I know we have no official announcement that these are forthcoming (just the card inserts in the Venus And Mars/Wings At The Speed Of Sound collections), but I wanted to throw out there for discussion what we might see in these collections on a bonus disc. I'm listing those tracks that were officially released; I know others have more knowledge of bootlegs of what else is out there. Tug Of War Ebony And Ivory (solo version) I'll Give You A Ring Rainclouds The McCartney Interview - probably not, but this interview in Musician magazine was commercially issued in 1980 and actually charted Tug Of War and Take It Away (clean versions as singles without the fade into each other) Loves Full Glory - I'm guessing Linda's songs will eventually be compiled into a Wide Prairie re-release, but this could be included here I believe Pipes Of Peace Ode To A Koala Bear Say Say Say (instrumental from maxi single) Say Say Say (remix by John "Jellybean" Benitez from maxi single) We All Stand Together We All Stand Together (Humming Version) Twice In A Lifetime Simple As That What else is out there?

"Rainclouds" is a must. And I like the idea of "clean" tracks for "Take It Away" and "Tug Of War." I'll pass on the entire Pipes Of Peace reissue: I have zero use for that album.

Zero use for "Pipes of Peace". Is not "Pipes of Peace" "Tug of War"? I've read that McCartney concieved it as a double album but the record company thought it was harder to sell and persuaded him to release the recordings as two separate albums. For my part, I think Tug in its entirety is a bit stronger, but Pipes is still a nice pop album. Two sides of the same coin. A masterpiece and a mini-masterpiece.

All the good songs ended up on Tug Of War. All the bad songs ended up on Pipes Of Peace.

Well, I might not think there are any "Here Today" on "Pipes of Peace", which is perhaps the most personal song of all ... but I think the songs on both albums are good, maybe with the exception of "Tug of Peace" ... but that has its mission and binds things together. "Hey Hey" is kind of a bass duel between Stanley Clarke and McCartney that never really takes off. It's still okay, as an instrumental piece. Hey, I think Pipes is a good album. It works for me... Think I played it three times a day when it came out. I'm still not tired of it. It says something about the quality of the work? Or my brain... :

It was not available for me to watch. but I actually think I want to hear the album. When we talk about the sun .. or how it goes.

I wouldn't call Pipes Of Peace ,So Bad and The Other Me bad , just different then Tug Of War stuff, I like POP Songs, there are some low points on TOW too, but it does flow well and holds up , But I know what you mean..I can't see POP as one of the BIG BOX Sets,,(LIKE THE ONES BEFORE) What's the point , but as a 2 CD SET would be fine

Got to agree with the Auds on this one. Tug Of War in the main has not only stronger material, but they sound as though they were carefully crafted too, whereas Pipes Of Peace overall sounds as though Paul wrote the lyrics on a cigarette packet and dashed the tunes off on the way to the toilet! TOW considered, POP rushed.

It may seem as if it's just me and George Martin who really like this album. He's even worse than me and has said that he thinks "Pipes of Peace" is better than "Tug of War". It's a little more 'funky', and it suited him better.

Martin was a great producer in many ways, but he's had a few serious lapses of taste over the years, and this is one of them. Funky?!?!? In what parallel universe?!?!?!?!?

Mccartney's weakest release of the 1980's ( and I am counting Broadstreet and the Russian albums as materials I compare Pipes to, Pipes is weakest).

I've read that Giles Martin have remastered. If true, I look forward even more - for both albums.

Back on topic, I think most of the above is likely, except perhaps the remixes and the interview. But beyond those, there are plenty of interesting demos and early versions of the songs that ended up on these albums: Ballroom Dancing, Keep Under Cover, Dress Me Up As A Robber, Ebony and Ivory, separate demos of The Pound Is Sinking and the Hear Me Lover part, and more. And there's a demo of We All Stand Together too. Plus there are a bunch of demos of songs that never got properly recorded: Give Us A Chord Roy, Unbelievable Experience, Stop You Don't Know Where She Came From, Boil Crisis, and particularly Seems Like Old Times. Pipes Of Peace is not one of my favorite albums by a long shot, but I think they're going to make the bonus material very attractive to collectors. EDIT: Actually, they may leave off Simple As That and Twice In A Lifetime, since they really were recorded later and are more suited to the Press To Play era. It was strange that they were on the 1993 reissue, other than to entice fans to buy Pipes Of Peace again (which I did!).

For my part, they can release them now. I remember "Tug of War" was originally released in May and "Pipes of Peace" in October. Both are easy to listen to but the latter is in my ears perhaps even more summery. I like to listen to them now... But they might come in the Autumn? With Christmas sales ... Unless he has a new studio album.

I have always thought that even McCartney's lesser works (albums) have a few brilliant tracks on them. While I agree that Pipes of Peace was rushed to take advantage of Paul's duets with Michael Jackson and the overall album is not very good (for Paul's standards), there are a few very good tracks. I really like: So Bad Through Our love The Other Me Pipes of Peace Question about Simple As That. Was this a B-side? My memory on hearing Simple As That on U-Tube is that it sounded quite finished and polished. I thought it was quite good and hope that it will be on the Pipes of Peace Bonus CD. I would think there will be a "live'' version of Ebony and Ivory on the Bonus Tug of War CD. I know Paul did include E&I on at least one tour and of course there is the White House version of the song with Stevie Wonder from a couple of years ago. I hope so. Finally I wonder if there will be any thought of releasing the Remasters of Tug of War and Pipes of Peace a little earlier (i.e. September) relative to all the recent Race problems the US is experiencing. It might be an added reason for getting it out earlier than expected. A September/October release would also capture the end of the year Christmas/Holiday season.

"Simple as That", released in 1986 on the charity album The Anti-Heroin Project ? It's A Live-In World ?

It seems to me as if the overlap of recordings with "Tug of War" disturbs the experience of "Pipes of Peace". The recording of these two albums aren't so different from "Chaos and Creation" and "Memory Almost Full". The latter started first but finished last, however, with less focus on it... "Pipes of Peace" is famous for it, but it was not really rushed, it was put on hold, just like MAF, with recordings started in October 1980 and ended in July 1983. Several songs were recorded after the release of "Tug of War" with "Pipes of Peace", "The Other Me", "So Bad", "Tug of Peace" and "Through Our Love" being recorded afterwards, in September?October 1982. Not to be picky and irritate, but my head love this stuff. Maybe there are some truth to the leftover status but not one hundred percent.

Just bumping this, because I think it got lost at the bottom of page 1 here 😉 Actually, Hendrix Ibsen, I was just reading about the "Chaos" and "MAF" sessions, and technically "Chaos" started first, since the first song recorded was "Follow Me" with Nigel Godrich, and then came a bunch of "MAF" tracks with David Kahne, before it switched back to Godrich, and then to Kahne again after "Chaos" came out. Also wanted to add that I'd be very surprised if there is ever a re-release of the Linda McCartney album, except maybe just as a straight reissue with nothing added.
