I completely agree. I love "Pipes of Peace", almost as much as "Tug of War". Barring a couple of weak tracks - Tug of Peace, Hey Hey - it's Paul at his pop-tastic best. I certainly prefer it to something as dry, ponderous and self-conscious as "Chaos" - good though it is, in a different way. Back to topic, I would like to see these tracks on the reissues: Tug of War Ebony and Ivory (solo version) Rainclouds I'll Give You A Ring Tug of War (acoustic reprise) Stop, You Don't Know Where She Came From (full brass version) Seems Like Old Times (full band version, if it exists; if not, the synth demo) Long & Winding Road / Ebony & Ivory Strawberry jam medley ( With Stevie Wonder ) All The Love Is There (Stewart Copeland on drums) No Values (1981 Montserrat version) Private Property and Attention (demos for Ringo) Ubelievable experience (demo) Pipes of Peace Ode To A Koala Bear Say Say Say (remix/extended version) Say Say Say (instrumental) Twice In a Lifetime On The Wings Of A Nightingale (demo) Blackpool (1981 version) Simple As That was recorded during the "Press To Play" sessions, I think. You could also put both versions of We All Stand Together on 'POP', though I'd be tempted to save those for the "Broad Street" reissue.

Very cool, Mumbojunk, but I also think there will be at least a few demos of songs that made it onto the finished albums, like "Dress Me Up As A Robber" and "The Pound Is Sinking"/"Hear Me Lover." I think they're going to beef up Pipes Of Peace with lots of bonus tracks to make it more enticing, knowing it's not a big favorite of many fans, and that it wasn't a big seller here in the U.S. the first time around. I think that's the strategy they used for McCartney II.

That's quite possible, but MPL's attitude towards demos of songs we already know is odd, to say the least. There were none on 'McCartney', 'BOTR', 'Venus and Mars' and 'McCartney II'. The only time they've put any out on the remasters was for 'Speed of Sound', when they had nothing else to fill out the bonus disc with. It's almost as if they are saving them all up for a box set of demos when all the remasters are finished -- presumably sometime in 2043......

I don't know about 2043
but that seems to be exactly what they are doing, holding back all the good stuff for a later compilation. One 'demo' that hasn't been mentioned yet (I think), is 'The Honorary Consul', which was recorded during the 'Pipes Of Peace' era,early 1983 I believe. -
Dont forget the 2 great collaborations that Paul did in the early 80s: 1). the melodic 'Politic of Love' w/Peter Gabriel 2). the bizarre 'Ibiza' w/Kate Bush Those 2 songs alone would make me buy the reissues!

They did?
If so, release it! I didn't know that he'd worked with Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush? Not many may know, I'm relatively McCartney oriented...

It was just Gabriel & Bush who collaborated on Ibiza.....as far as I'm aware,there was no involvement from Paul.

"The Politics of Love" was never actually finished. Peter Gabriel has been quoted as saying they didn't quite "nail" the lyrics, but it has been alleged that Peter played it at some point on his "So" tour.

Other songs recorded for the TOW and POP sessions include: All The Love Is There In My Darkest Hour (both with Denny Laine) Any Younger Peruvian Birdsong Simon's Wigwam Plus there are the live tracks performed during the video shoot for "Take It Away" with the audience in the theater (all rock n roll oldies like "Cut Across Shorty").

I like both these LPs. A lot of Wing-esque harmonies and arrangements especially on Tug of War. It helps that Denny Laine plays on some tracks on both.

A couple clunkers, but come on people, POP is a brilliant song; Say Say Say was huge in late 1983; So Bad is a McCartney masterpiece; Average Person reminded me of a mid-60's Beatle song; The Other Me was simply a great song with Paul in great voice; and I just love Sweetest Little Show.

Looking at this thread that is very true! Pipes Of Peace is a album that is a mixed bag album like too many Paul albums overall, but Pipes has more clunkers than most!

I am very fond of the Tug/Pipes recording period between 1980-1983. There are few rock songs, but the McCatney & Martin team produce well arranged and classy sounding pop music. Not to mention the fun little children's song "We All Stand Together". A productive period for McCartney. Tug/Pipes could or should have been a double album, although I also think they're good separately.
There are also more songs unreleased, so I look forward to bonus material. And all the b-sides together on a disc, or two...
