This is streaming on Spotify now. A good peak at what could have been if they pursued "Flowers in the Dirt" as a true collaborative album. https://play.spotify.com/album/26yHoXdYWf32FZwvFoYUUx?play=true&utm_source=open.spotify.com&utm_medium=open

Not a fan of Elvis Costello at all. Glad Paul sang this song alone on the album. One of my all time favorite McCartney tunes.

"If you want the Beatles, go see Wings"-George Harrison 1974

"This is for all the Wings fans!" - McCartney introducing "1985" for the first time on American soil (Phoenix 2010)

I liked the songs with Elvis Costello on FITD but did not think the entire album needed to be them working together. The just McCartney songs were pretty darn good for the most part on FITD.

            Maybe I'm amazed !!

_________________________________________________ Agree Yankeefan. Some of the McCartney only tracks are some of the best on the album...Put it There, We Got Married, Distractions, This One, Figure of 8. Not saying I don't like some of the Elvis collaborations a lot also...e.g. especially My Brave Face and That Day is Done. i'm looking forward to buying the FITD Remaster. I'm just getting the 2 CD package. That's the best value. I have not listened to the complete album for years so I'm going to be curious just how much I still like it. From my memory the songs I really liked, I loved. Like with Flaming Pie, MAF and Chaos, some of the songs from FITD were real Solo classics. Like I said, put these type of songs on a Beatles CD and they would be so well known. Unfortunately, only the real Macca fans know them or remember them. The main problem I had with FITD were the inconsistencies. Didn't care for Motor of Love or the closing track (Ou EST Le Soleil). I do like the Macca/Elvis tracks except for Paul's vocal on "Don't Be Careless Love". I'll be interested to see that over time...I like any of these songs any better. I'll also be interested to see if I like the Demo (Disc 2) of "Don't Be Careless Love" better than the studio version. I think the fact that Paul had too many producers might have hurt the overall consistency of FITD. And how do you include a couple of the inferior tracks I've stated and not include Back on my Feet and Flying to my Home. Both of these were B-sides and far better than Motor of Love and the closing tracks. Not the first time, Paul has made similar miscalculations on other albums that could have been better with the right selections.

Read an Elvis Costello interview about That Day Is Done. He said it was about his feelings about when his grandmother died.

It seems to me  that the song switches point of view from the person experiencing the death of a loved one to that of the deceased person themselves.
