Paul's Beard
-
Silly question. I am a huge fan of Paul's bearded look, and I was wondering, why hasn't Paul grown a bread in recent years? Not only that. But there is no evidence of Paul even having a 5 o'clock shadow in like the last 30 years lol. Does he shave everyday? Did he get laser removal? What's going on here? I think it would be awesome if he changed up his look, and brought back the beard. But why hasn't he?

Simple answer would be then he would have to color his beard in addition to his hair, more work - lol.

.........and worse still, more expense !!

As yankeefan7 said...he'd have to color it now & I don't think that would work out very well. BUT... In honor of his beard...

I think he looked good with a beard in the "Let It Be" movie and on the cover of the McCartney album

I agree but I know some do not care for it.

While I've always liked Dreamy Bearded Rooftop Paul, (it's one of my favorite looks for him! lol) I also like his look as Moptop Paul, and "I am the Walrus Paul", and Sgt Pepper Paul, and 1997 Paul (when he was knighted) and especially like how he is today ... I guess it would be too difficult to choose a favorite look for him, my favorite would be whatever photo I happen to see of him at the time, lol. They're all good.

I think so too. The photo of Paul holding baby Mary on the cover of McCartney was an especially sweet photo. It's interesting he had a beard in his early relationship life with Linda, and for some reason left that behind as he matured... and hasn't grown another one since... but it was a good look for him. If he ever decided to grow another beard, I'm sure he'd be able to afford to have a stylist maintain the look he likes. But if he chose not to have one, he'd always look great no matter what, so he can't lose..

In answer to the original question, as you age you lose testosterone (men and women) and most people lose a lot of hair on the arms, legs, and for men, the face. Look at Paul's legs and arms now compared to how hairy he was when he was young! I doubt if he'd have much of a beard, and even if he was able to grow one, it would be silver. P.S. The only time I liked his beard was in the fall of 1968 when he first grew it and it was short. In that photo shoot of him and Linda where he has his arms around her, he looks fantastic!

Hi Nancy, is this the photo you're talking about? He does look fantastic in this, probably because he looks very happy, and so does Linda.

I'm 60. My beard is fine but my brain is shot!

I adore Paul's, "Let It Be," beard, however the Paul of today would not look fab with it imo.

Maybe I should have said "a lot" or "some" people. Paul definitely has lost all that dark thick leg and arm hair. Remember reading how Iris Caldwell (Rory Storm's sister) used to comb his leg hair!

^Those are both great photos!! I'm not voting for the beard, it was nice at the time, but unless he goes grey beard and hair... I'm thinking he looks great how he is now. George Clooney looks good with a beard, so does Patrick Stewart and Sean Connery.

Paul is handsome enough to pull off this type of look The brown hair and all grey beard is too starkly different though.

Thanks so much for posting those photos, Nancy! Always enjoy seeing photos of Paul and Linda together, and appreciate you sharing them. The beard he had at that time did look really good on him.

Agree with you, love2travel! And also agree that he does look great the way he is now. Doesn't matter to me how he chooses to style his hair, etc., he always looks great. (He could be a cueball like Yul Brynner in "The King and I" and I'd still think he was wonderful and faint upon seeing him!) Anyway, as long as he's always smiling and happy like he is in this photo, that's all that counts
