Paul's Beard

Nancy R:
As if you wouldn't be able to recognize him! God, I love that movie! At Twickenham (publicity shot) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/njr/Paul%20McCartney%20and%20The%20Beatles/Beatles64_zps7a874fc8.jpg
I love that movie too, NancyR! Thanks for posting the photo of them behind the scenes. I wonder if the Twickenham studio looks the same as it did in 1964. Here's another bearded HDN photo of Paul with his on-screen grandfather.

[quote="LadyLeslie"][quote="oobu24"]I actually like the gold bars. It isolates Paul & puts the emphasis on him. It seems more than just a pic slapped on a tshirt. I like the photo of him on the shirt, so if I couldn't find an old version of the shirt, without the bars, I'd be ok with buying the gold bars one ) Paul isn't wearing a beard in this photo, but I like the pink shirt the fan next to him is wearing, and would probably buy that one too, lol... it dates to whenever the "Press" video was filmed on the Subway. and just to stay on topic, we haven't discussed Paul's glued on beard and mustache in "A Hard Day's Night" - that wasn't a bad look for him either! ) . That pink shirt is really nice... I like the look on that girls face too. Can you imagine meeting Paul on the tubes... D Lucky girl!!! Paul looks good no matter, beard, sideburns...those sideburns in Eleanor's Dream were really nice, by the way.

Can't imagine what it would be like to run into Paul on the subway, and find the only seat available was the one next to him, which would be a surprise, lol, since you'd think that would be the first one taken! Anyway, filming that video must have been a wonderful experience for all the fans who were able to be a part of it... there must be some stories out there about their experiences of seeing Paul while filming. That is a good photo of him from Eleanor's Dream... if he ever were to do movies or tv, I think he could do historical dramas very well!

I had to quote your post and fix the links so I could figure out what the heck you were referring to since the BBCode had been disabled (not by you)

The brick wall is the same. Here it is in 2011. Saw it again last August, but didn't bother to take another pic as it's the same!

Good thread! I think he would look much better with a beard, like Ringo. And I think he don't shave everyday and I remember see some pics that proves this (zoom and you will see): http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/10/16/1413443788634_wps_3_British_singer_Paul_McCar.jpg

Thanks, Nancy R, for posting the Twickenham photo! You're so lucky to have had the opportunity of visiting some of these places. I'm glad that a lot of the Beatles sites and historic places still exist. The sites will probably exist for a long time, because there will always be interest from fans in anything associated with the Beatles. This is a short video of the Beatles filming a scene that was to be used in the Let it Be film... it's a nice video of our dreamy bearded Paul
The video's description says this was filmed at Twickenham, which is possible, but so many little videos of the Let it Be sessions very obviously were filmed as the Beatles were recording their music at Abbey Road studios... I think the Let it Be FILM could have been edited, etc., at Twickenham, with a few scenes maybe filmed there... but I think most of the Let it Be film was filmed during their recording sessions at Abbey Road. (Correct me if I'm wrong!) A Hard Day's Night, Help (other than the scenes on location in The Bahamas) and the final scene of The Beatles in Yellow Submarine were all definitely filmed at Twickenham though

I think this is a recent photo of Paul and Ringo.
They both look great!! Ringo seems to keep after trimming his beard...that's the thing, if you don't keep a beard trimmed, when you're older, it can start looking scruffy.

Let it Be was not filmed at the Abbey Road studios at all. It was partially filmed at 3 Savile Row in their recording studio in the basement there. (And of course on the rooftop the famous live concert in January 1969) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_It_Be_(1970_film) They started off at Twickenham (beginning of the film) in this big drafty sound stage and then got fed up and moved to Apple on Savile Row. You must not have a copy of the movie. I saw it in 1970 in the theater, later saw it again in 1981 at a midnight movie screening, then won the VHS bootleg video at a Beatles convention raffle. The quality of the tape has deteriorated, so I was glad a friend was able to burn me a nice DVD copy off one she had. I've seen that bit before from Let It Be. Poor Paul seems so tired and frustrated.

Thanks for the clarification, Nancy
was confused because I saw in the Let it Be film they were going into a building which I thought was Abbey Road studios but was Apple headquarters instead... should have checked more about the film before posting
(that's why I like to ask about things when I know I may be wrong.) Anyway, the wikipedia link you shared was helpful in clarifying how Twickenham fit in with the Let it Be sessions and film, thanks so much
Edited to add:

I guess I didn't see that in the video because I was just concentrating on how dreamy he looked, lol, but yeah, that seemed like a very tense time for them all, and it must have been very frustrating at times.. he and John both tried to take leadership roles, to keep things together after Brian Epstein died, and it wasn't an easy time for any of them in the group...

That's great you have a DVD copy rather than VHS, so the quality is better, and also that you've seen it on screen at a theatre... I've seen the entire Let it Be film via VHS tape from Amazon... I enjoyed watching it very much. There were so many musical moments that I appreciated in the film, including Paul singing Let it Be and The Long and Winding Road. The rooftop concert at the end was amazing, and sad at the same time that those were their last public performance moments together. Thanks again for sharing your photos, and the current Twickenham sign!
