Personally, I think it's a bit redundant to include the entire original album (which we can just buy separately), but its a good idea to package the full live performance with the bonus tacks.

Were we not supposed to be getting the live tracks as a bonus when buying Kisses but it turned out you only got a few of the tracks and not the whole performance that the advertising implied. Paul treating his fans badly again

I have removed my comments and included them in the other original thread where they should have been placed.

I always came back to the songs he was singing,
            At any particular time

I'm sorry but nothing like milking this album for the whole year to the fullest. This may get me some not so much support but I'm freely downloaded this extra content via a torrent. But the truth is; I'm so tired of this album by the way it was advertised back in February in terms of the proper labeling of the "DELUXE EDITiON" with the two bonus songs that I ended up buying it twice and then finding out the free downloads were just four songs off the live show.

              Paul McCartney:
              5.1.2002 /10.14.2005/ 10.15.2005/ 7.24.2011 /10.21.2015 /10.1.2017/ 10.2.2017

              Ringo:
              3.1.1999/ 6.11.2000 / 8.7.2003 /6.16.2006 /7.11.2008
              7.23.2010 / 7.8.2012 / 6.27.2014 / 6.23.2016

When I saw this on website as COMPLETE, I immediately went to the tracklist. Where is the Fred Astaire song that Paul mentioned he recorded but didn't include in the official release? It is definitely not the complete sessions. Will there be a DELUXE COMPLETE set to follow? I got screwed originally when I bought the Deluxe CD and it didn't have the bonus tracks that TARGET had an exclusive of. They really seem to be stretching and stretching with this stuff lately. ^Yep. Bought the Deluxe at Best Buy expecting the two bonus songs but didn't do my research enough and realized it was only an PM.com online thing or a TARGET exclusive. Honestly the way everything's been handled with this I don't enjoy this release like I initially did back in February. It's basically a covers album that I do not think is really up to par with a cover's album like "Run Devil Run" Sure Paul can play these songs but it's not up to the standard of his Rock albums. I hope 2013 brings something more rocking; hell I'll even take a pop music album by him. Something that get's him back into his area of expertise.

I maybe old fashioned but, rather than iTunes download, I would prefer a CD or DVD release of the complete live performance uninterrupted. Of the Complete Kisses bonus tracks only My Valentine (Johnny Mandel Original Arrangement) is actually not available elsewhere and two of them, Baby's Request and My One And Only Love were on the original Kisses deluxe version. Taking this into consideration, plus the fact that most of the Kisses live tracks were previously released on iTunes this doesn't appear to be all that special.

I suppose this all now comes around to the speed of development of alternatives to physical media. Paul and other artists - for he is not alone in these marketing strategies - are facing at least two different types of fan. The first group are the physical media fan - we want the releases in a physical form in a carefully designed packaging - that too often is an expression of the artists design ability and has their stamp all over it in just the same way as a song. We want those releases lined up along our shelves as we build our collections and take great pride in the ownership of them. The second group are the new "instant hit" digital follower, they haven't been in a music/film/game store in many a year and expect to find their media on-line via iTunes and other sources. With media interconnectivity with HDTV television sets boasting USB, HDMI and other connections, digital media can be viewed/played in the same brilliance and audio quality as a DVD or CD. They are completely happy to have their collection as a dataset occupying a small amount of storage space on their PC, games player, on portable devices such as phones, usb sticks, or hard disk drives, completely space-less in comparison to CD and DVD cases, yet laid dormant ready to spring into a very real existence at the click of a mouse or keypad. So, in this instance, I don't view this release as selling the same thing twice to us but rather targeting different audiences. Watching the whole physical/digital media debate I see us approaching a tipping point where the majority will be buying digital. Paul has sold all his recent releases with with a "plus digital" or "digital only" option - including lossless options, so in this respect he's a market leader already. Considering the commercial and logistic advantage of selling just batches of digital code transferred electronically - against the physical production, warehousing, transport, display media of physical products it's only going to increase. I can really imagine that in future if a physical product is requested such as a DVD or CD that these will be burnt to disk and despatched in a bespoke fashion to order rather than manufactured in mass - no longer will we find copies gathering dust in bargain bins where demand has been misjudged. And we're watching artists such as Paul - and the Beatles - experimenting with the options and products. As we see the changes can be rung rapidly, switching or adding bonus material to suit various markets. Of course, it is a completist's worst nightmare...... Martin

I thought this was going to be everything from the Kisses sessions, not just a compilation of everything that has already been released!

As Wallie said in the other kisses thread...with Paul being an animal activist...he sure knows how to beat a dead horse... It sure does seem like it's all about the money now.

Precisely. If you already have KOTB, or if you are a collector of physical releases, this release isn't aimed at you. It's aimed at luring in a new audience. The whole point of the digital format is that it allows artists great flexibility in repackaging music for different audiences. Like the Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows download (lots of Beatles collectors complained about that, too, but that release wasn't aimed at them.) Whether you personally like KOTB or not, Paul clearly loves the project and is deeply proud of it. And he should be. It's a good piece of work.

I don't normally weigh-in on topics such as this as I am not the most objective person regarding all things McCartney. Love the man and love the music.....that simple. I agree with Michelley's post above, regarding the audience this digital release is aimed at, but you can't overlook the fact that McCartney is also putting the new version of My Valentine on this release so it automatically becomes a must have for a completeist (just like me).

Wouldn't it make more sense to release the "extra" songs on KOTB to begin with, and then release a live KOTB album? That way, no one has to feel ripped off. Of course, that would make sense, and we wouldn't want that, now would we?

But I have spent a boatload on the ones I like! You usually can buy individual tracks from an album on iTunes. Maybe you'll be able to download the new version of My Valentine by itself?
