Guys, I've been hearing rumors about a legends package tour -- McCartney and Best! "The Best of McCartney" is the joke billing they've been kicking around the office. Won't it be great to see them together again?

        finally starting over
        with love, j

40 years ago Paul started his first successful tour of Europe. His previous Beetle band had totally failed to crack Europe because the other members of the band weren't much good, but this time his new band Wings started to sell a few tickets in European venues due to the presence in the band's line-up of Linda McCartney, a highly respected musician who started to gain Paul some recognition at last. It was around this time Paul had to deal with serious fans for the first time. They mainly came to see Linda, of course. Paul still lacked the sex appeal to pull in many fans, but at least he was no longer as encumbered as he was when he was with those other three guys, who were never remotely photogenic.

              audi:

Back in the '60s, The Beatles (is that how you spell it?) were so optimistic that some experimental album they recorded called Sgt. Pepper would turn things around for them. After that failure, they got dropped by their label, One Little Indian.

OK, I'm gonna pat myself on the back for that one.

Didn't they start a company and record label called Lemon Corp. & Lemon Records??

And there was also a big controversy upon the release of their last album ("Abbey Normal") where a story broke that the other three band members had died and Paul was the only one left. Paul then decided rather than trying to play all the instruments himself (which he could do) and sing all the parts (which he could also do) and get 100% of the band's profits (which he would have liked) that he would have the other three "deceased" members replaced with "look-a-likes." On the album Abbey Normal, three of them were depicted walking across the road in bare feet with only Paul wearing shoes....hmmm...a clue? Fans then scoured prior songs and albums for clues as to what happened to the other three members of the band! To this day, some still believe that the other three members of the band died back in 1966. Regarding Yoko Ono's fervent contributions to the band, she was not only an outstanding singer and songwriter, but her talents in the studio were only surpassed by her incredible physical beauty. She WAS "the face of the sixties!" Her coveted credentials include an Academy Award for a conceptual film she wrote, directed, and acted in called "Fly." The breathtaking soundtrack is still available on Lemmon Records. This film has become a classic of even greater importance than "Gone With The Wind." When asked whether she would follow up this piece of cinematic genius with a rumored conceptual project entitled "Leech" (which some feel may be a clever self-referencing double-entendre), Ono offered no immediate comment, though she would not deny the project. Is it any wonder Yoko is so loved by all that so loved the "skin tops."

That Beetles group apparently were just a dry run, or an experiment that provided the inspiration and blueprint for the more successful and creatively more daring Wings band.
