Dance Till We're High is my 14-year-old daughter's favorite track off Electric Arguments. She's a ballet dancer and thinks it would make a great piece of music to choreograph for ballet. Great song.
It is a really great (non-Christmas) song.
I don't really see it as a Christmas song either. Sorry!
Don't be silly, off course it's a Christmas song!
Well I suppose it mentions "winters coming" and it mentions "bells." That's all i got.
Love the song, though.
Exactly. And bells can be rung all times of the year, not just Christmas time.
Well ok, maybe not intentionally a Christmas song, but the bells remind me of Christmas, then he mentions Winter, that's all I need to get in a festive mood! Call it------------ADVENT GARDE----------

Exactly, some people just don't get it!

Note the theme of Martin's post: HIS interpretation is that it's a Christmas song.
He didn't say it was one...
ETA: Or that Paul intended it to be a Christmas song...

I live in the south, and here Christmas is in SUMMER, not snow, but bells ringing... for our love...
Paul could be more clear with the lyrics then we don't have this chat...anyway for me is not a Christmas song, just a beautiful song about Winter, love and joy...

That's my girl! Tell him!

You just have to realise that I am right and those who disagree are wrong!

edit to add...this was in reference to something else

Since I have been listening to EA for eons now, I know this song very well. I am pretty sure it is a Love song for someone, I am thinking his wife, Nancy. It is one of his magickal manifest destiny songs. If he sings about it, it will come true, and it did.
Oh, and there's that letter writing thing again.

I've been going on about this song since EA came out. ... (
: ) then it could really work, especially if he dumps the cheap 'filmed within 50 yards of MPL's front door with a camcorder' type vid ....
50 yards from MPL was necessary. Otherwise, it would've looked exactly like the "Sing The Changes" vid -- which appeared to be done in the hallway of their offices, following some boring meeting Paul had to go to. Electric Arguments is a stellar McCartney project, but its videos were insulting after-thoughts. And, by the way, I agree that there is a seasonal, holiday vibe to "Dance 'Til We're High" that I'm finally appreciating.

Is it "Wonderful Christmastime"? No. It's a love-song, veiled in wintery, holiday dynamics. For example, the percussion we hear aren't sleigh-bells but are played similar to them. Clearly. As for the video, it's much better than the "Sing The Changes" video. Granted, I'd rather watch any of the EA vids than the "Nod Your Head" video. I agree with Paul's 1997 comment that million-dollar videos aren't always necessary, but some vision is key. I want the next The McCartney Years DVD to be as good as the first one.

Speaking of EA vids. This DIY vid for "Highway" that was posted at YouTube a few years ago remains one of the best unofficial McCartney music videos:

another interpretation: (yes I love this song.) So, The Fireman releases on the Equinox. And I was thinking of this song in my head, and now it takes on a new meaning. A song of LOVE true. But also a song of celebration and giving Thanks on the Autumnal Equinox. The first snowfall is the beginning of this time. Give thanks for the Sun and the Harvest. So it is like a Love song for the beauty of The Universe and all of our places in it. To remind us to appreciate this time of year.
I also really like Paul's birdlike movements in the video.

Exactly how I feel about it. Glad you know you're wrong.

Love it & the video is so cool. I don't understand why he doesn't do a few different songs off of this album.
What is your interpretation of what is happening in the video?
I just enjoy the video. I don't know what his message is...do you? But I'd love to see him filming in an amusement park that I would happen to be at. He just looks very relaxed & that is what I like to see. Winters coming It'll soon will be here If we knew what it meant We would take care Snow is falling Where the snow falls If we knew what it meant We would take care We would dance Light up the sky With your message fly With your message Bells will ring out for our love We can do it Gonna do it tonight Sing till we fly together Dance till we're high together Dance till we're high together Write a letter to a new love Drop a line to a true love Winters coming It'll soon be here If we knew what it meant We would take care Shake our heads We would be there We would dance Light up the sky With your message fly With your message Bells will ring out for our love We can do it Gonna do it tonight Sing till we fly together Dance till we're high together Gonna do it right now Light up the sky With your message fly With your message Bells will ring out for our love We can do it Gonna do it tonight Sing till we fly together Dance till we're high together Dance till we're high together Light up the sky Sing till we fly together Dance till we're high together Gonna do it right now
This is my favourite song on EA and I have played it soooo much! To me it seems as if it's a really positive song about love and life and how listening and singing to certain songs can just free you.... make you feel a natural high... make you feel like dancing... or even just soaring/flying across the sky... I imagine the look on peoples faces when they are very happy dancing to music that is touching their soul....it's very uplifting... I think the message is positive and I think it's about loving one another and about freedom. Here's my favorite video for this song.... this person also made a few more vids from EA, but sadly they're not on the site anymore...
Here's another song about flying... I love these songs ... -
The flying part makes me think of astral travel. I feel like this song is about that too. Being in one place but being in another at the same time. I like that sort of thing.

It's so cool that Paul is freer as the Fireman
