Finally found myself a vinyl LP copy of Flowers In The Dirt today!!! Thats not actually a pic of my copy or player, just thought it looked good got it for $7 from this place http://www.reckless.com/ also got Nilsson's 1st album, 'Spotlight on Nilsson', original 1966 pressing on Tower label, $18!! in great shape too. and I got the Midnight Cowboy soundtrack for $3 and Ringo's Sentimental Journey on Apple for $2! but that ones cover is not in very good shape at all.. but the vinyl's basically prestine! wierd. but anyway, the celebration here is about finally finding Flowers on vinyl! I'm pumped great looking record.

Really wish this would get the remaster treatment so i can finally own thi album. I'm desperate for it, all the songs from tis album on the Mccartney years dvd are brilliant! My favourite being Figure of Eight, so under rated. i do know the version for the video is different from the album rack. Why is this so? I did think they were two different mixes, but th music to the video fits the performance so well I think it was recorded live, with all audeince noise an singing totally mixed out, giving it the sound and punch of a studio recording. Anyone shed any light on this?

I really enjoy the more recent albums, but I do miss this side of Paul. He seems more confident on this record and it's cool.

Thanks Nancy! one of the reasons I love this forum is I know certain people will share in the enjoyment I get of finding sweet McCartney vinyl! people, now I admittedly at this point may be experiencing some sort of placebo effect with vinyl.. as in just because the sound is coming from that sweet black plastic I automatically trick myself into thinking it sounds so much better etc etc.. but Flowers In The Dirt sounds AMAZING on vinyl. whole nother ballgame. I'm just loving this album right now. Figure of 8, How Many People are just all out killing me. had a bit of a listening party tonight, just me and my daughter, partying in our own clean fun styles, down in my man cave listening room dungeon/her play room.. having some fun, check this out can you even hear whats playing?? Its figure of 8. basically I'm just cracking up.
Big props and much love, for Flowers In The Dirt. that albums a total winner -

good call, and notice its actually dueling lava lamps! I'm a big time dork. There's nothing like that soft red light those things give off as I'm falling asleep in my vinyl lair, to the soothing sounds of a little Flowers In The Dirt That's a little crappy record player but actually provides decent sound. I have a better one in my family room but the wifey doesn't like my entire record collection on display upstairs.. Ain't she mean!

Btw Nancy, don't I remember you saying a while back you have a son or daughter really into Blink 182? If not I may be imagining things.. But of so you should play him or her my Canary Robbery punk tracks, let them hear 4th & Goal or Double Vision, would like to know what they think, if we're on the level, etc. Anyway, back to topic

K- Your daughter has created a new dance: The Figure Of 8. Even in that video, the musical tones just translate so much better via vinyl,

'the Figure of 8', I like it! I'll tell her that! the sounds literally brought her to her knees that girl is passionate about music, just like me. Its really sweet. yeah buddy, I'm all about vinyl as you know. to me the tones are just so much better. glad you can hear it well enough. I was worried about people not even being able to hear it cuase I wasn't actually playing it that loudly, and plus Rae was yelling most of the time. but I love it, good times w Paul! apparently a key part of the 'figure of 8' dance is slapping your ass that was a classic maneuver on her part..

kapoo, is that a copy of Give Ireland Back to the Irish I noticed in the lid of your record player?

Very mean!! I actually thought I spied another lava lamp on the other side, but didn't replay it to be sure!

Yes, my son! Where do I find these tracks, on youtube I assume? ETA: I found them! He's off now--just left awhile ago (with two girls!) so will play them to him tomorrow. Quite sure he will love Double Vision especially!

Good eye dc, that sure is! and right next to it is the Sliver/Dive single from Nirvana, on the original SubPop label! sort of rare, cool sleeve. I also noticed right at the end of the clip the copy of Ringo's Sentimental Journey is visible under the copy of 'Flowers' in the stack. like any one cares!! thanks Nancy for spreading the Canary Robbery word! hope he likes it. give me your personal thoughts on any of our songs that you have. the Yellow bird tracks are the ones we're doing now in a pro studio, pretty much rockers, rocking out and having fun. the other various color birds are a little more low key and experimental, done mostly on my own at home. btw This One on vinyl is really gorgeous. its a gorgeous song period, but I'm really loving that song right now. very well written, well recorded, well everything. Paul's good.

That's a cool Figure of Eight moment there, you and your daughter spending some time together with this excellent song. Very touching! Is it better/take good care of each other.......... Love that song. Jealous you even own the album anyway, nevermind have it on that brilliant vinyl.

Thanks chrisstevens! hopefully you get your hands on a copy of FITD really soon, sounds like your a big fan, you deserved to have access I noticed your comment a page back about the different versions of Figure of Eight, and I really have no info for you there. I've actually never seen (as far as I know) the McCartney Years DVD so can't tell about the mix on there. the album one is great of course, and that songs plays really well on the Tripping the Live disc as well. Thats prob my fav track on the album as well

The mix used for the music-video has enhanced drums, as Paul was not happy with the drums on the mix that appeared on the album.

Cheers kapuua nd audi. Yes, different mix on the promo video than the standerd album version. The promo vid mix has more "oomph" (if you will) and is more powerfull. I ,ove it when it kicks in, it does something to me, really one of macca great unsung classics! Literally unsung these days! That said I listend to the original album mix on youtube yesturday and it does still sound great. Figure it out for yourself, little girl.........
