Guy saying McCartney and the Stones should retire
-
Hi everybody I was told today that somebody wrote an article in my local newspaper saying that Paul and The Rolling Stones and The Bee Gees and the old rockers should retire since they are 70 years old and they still dance around like teenagers. I said what does that guy know and the person told me he knows because he is a fan and the same age and said that they can't act like teenagers anymore and their audience is disappearing. The guy thinks it is pathetic that hey all still do this stuff at 70. I don;t buy into it,I say what are we supposed to do roll over and get arthritis? I don't buy into that. Obviously this guy thinks that people should stop playing rock n'roll when they get old. I think it is bullocks!

well the same person who say this is probably just an old boring fart anyway, who sits around all day long in a rocking chair wasting away in front of a computer writing rubbish. so who cares what they think anyway.? I am pretty sure that Paul doesn't that's for sure I disagree with this totally I think that Paul and the other musicians who are older should continue to do what they do. life is too short to just sit around and let your talents go to waste. And who the heck says that when you turn over 70 or 200 years old (for that matter) that you should retire from playing music? that to me is just ridiculous. obviously these people who write these things are either misinformed about life in general or they don't have lives of their own and are unhappy with theirs. either way is a bunch of b.s. oh sure Paul and the other older musicians can just put down their guitars and sit home all day watching the telly humming old tunes to themselves in their rocking chairs. oh puh lease give me a freaking breAK here. : I say this for the record that Paul and THE OTHERS DONT HAVE TO RETIRE OKAY? THEY CAN PLAY MUSIC UNTIL THEY PASS OUT AND DIE ON STAGE. AND THE OTHERS WHO SAY OTHER WISE CAN JUST SHUT THE HECK UP AND GET A LIFE. LEAVE THE MAN ALONE AND LET HIM PLAY HIS DAMN MUSIC AS LONG AS HE WANTS TO.

Well said my friend. Just because you get old doesn't mean you have to give up on life or that it is over. I am the same age as Paul was when Pipes Of Peace came out and just stated taking piano lessons last year and picked up keyboards. I thought i was too old too but that isn't true. I thought Paul was old then but now when I look at the So Bad and Say Say Say videos he looked pretty young. I agree with you that Paul should keep on playing as long as he likes. I'd rather go see him and Mick any day over these gangster rappers or Justin Bieber.

Mick might still prance around like a teenager, but Paul certainly doesn't. My only issue on "old rockers" still performing is whether their standards have dropped or not. My only problem where Paul is concerned is not his energy levels, but his deteriorating vocals these days. I'd love Paul to keep recording for years yet, but i think their comes a time to hang up your "live performing" boots and i think that's not far off now.

When Paul can't do it anymore and the fans stop selling out arenas and stadiums, that's when he'll stop. Obviously the guy who said that has not been to one of his concerts. So he's speaking from ignorance and is ill informed. Paul and the Stones and Springsteen are re-writing what it is to be a "Senior Citizen"! These guys will rock until the grave!

Well, for starters, the Bee Gees don't exist anymore. There's only one left. The other brothers have died. Did the man who wrote the article not know this, one wonders? Aside from that, people say/write things to gain notoriety and get attention. This is a prime example. Pay not attention.

As long as they can do what they enjoy doing, and a paying public is willing to come see them, they should keep on keeping on. Whether they can still cut it, still do it without making fools of themselves or tarnishing the brand is another thing altogether, and ultimately that's a subjective thing on the part of the paying public.

I'm with you on this... I will always go to see Paul play and he said he will always play. So to those who are so critical, well you always have the option to stay at home

If the demand is still there for Paul to keep performing live, then why not, I'm sure he'll know when the right time is to call it a day whenever that'll be.

In some ways their awesome talents get better and better instead of declining. Guitar prowess can keep improving on and on, for example, and the song writing deepen and diversify into new eclectic creative directions, and brain power intensifies as knowledge and wisdom accumulate, in the true musical greats--how foolish to suggest they stop using their God-given talents just because of a "number"

Beealtesfanrandy we finally agree on something. I would love for Paul keep on going until he is in the grave. Boycie I also agree that Paul's vocals aren't as strong as they used to be. In fact I would love for him to be around another 30 years if that is posslble. Beatles$everandEver I don't know whether the guy in the article knows the other Bee Gees are dead or not. I didn't read the artciel I was jsut told about it from a friend of the family. He mentioned the Bees Gees but I'm not sure what the article exactly said other than Paul and the Rolling Stones should retire because they act like teenagers and it is pathetic. If Paul didn't perform people will miss him and when they are dead they will wish they were around, remeber how people wanted a Beatle reunion in the 70s? John himself said he wouldn't do it in the Playboy interview in 1980 because he wasn't in his 20s anymore and that a person wiggling their ass off would be the big joke in the future. Paul didn't think he would be doing this at 71 and Mick himself said he wouldn't be caught dead singing Satisfaction when he was over 40 but they still do and i'm glad they do. Paul isn't a rebel anyway so I don't see how he acts like a teenager.

If that guy from AC/DC can keep performing then McCartney has absolutely no problem, because that guy from AC/DC can't sing a single note! I don't see anyone complaining? I know AC/DC are a band that fits that kind of sound, but my point is no matter what their style may be, the guy can't sing (in fact he never could) and people flock to see them. I do realize that AC/DC wants that kind of singer, he fits their style, but the truth is still that the guy can't sing, and McCartney right now today sounds a million times better! McCartney is producing some of his best shows right now, so why should he quit?

Chuck Berry still draws a crowd once-a-month at Blueberry Hill, in St. Louis. He'll be 87 on October 18.

I hope those shows are better than his trainwreck concert in South America earlier this year. It was the hardest-to-watch thing I have ever seen on a stage.

In the tv-doc Wings over America a journalist asks Paul if he isn't to old to perform. He was 33 at that time. Let them talk. I just hope to see a 90-year old Macca live when I'm 70
