      5th-beatle:

Is this CD going to be released only in the US? I see it on Amazon UK listed as an import: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Holidays-Rule-Various-Artists/dp/B009A9EKGM/

The album is listed for a later "outside US" release on the 5th November: http://www.concordmusicgroup.com/albums/Holidays-Rule/ reading the blurb on the Concorde Music site it seemingly might be released under the name "Christmas Rules" - or is someone at Concorde Music having a private laugh at US complaints about political correctness? :

CHRISTMAS RULES, a deliciously diverse collection of seasonal music featuring an array of glittering contributions from across the musical spectrum, will be released by Hear Music/Concord Music Group on November 5th outside of North America.

Checking further, it's listed as such as a mp3 download on Amazon UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Christmas-Rules/dp/B009TG0YN4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1350741929&sr=8-4 No immediate sign of a physical format, but the artwork has been done to reflect that name change: One reason for possible differences in release dates maybe different national celebration dates. In the USA after Halloween you only have a short spell to Thanksgiving then onto Christmas. Here we note the passing of Halloween but then have Guy Fawkes (Bonfire) Night on the 5th November before a free promotional run through to Christmas Day. Martin

While on-line you'll be ordering your copy of Paul's major Christmas release then: Click Here to visit main site feature "Live Kisses" All from the same sessions, and with the same musicians, as his new song - The Christmas Song. Martin

Amazing how this man's music always cheers me up. Been down lately for a number of reasons to heavy to go into here, so really nice to wake up to this snippet of Paul's new Christmas song. Thanks Macca!!!!

It's lovely, isn't it? Looking forward to this. I think Starbucks should have the CD in their shops.

That's probably where I will buy it, then I think I will put it aside until after Thanksgiving as it still seems too early for Christmas music, that is unless you are a merchant trying to get everyone in the mood.

I did have one observation on Diana's latest visa-vis her collaboration with Paul: Her record company made her pose in lingerie for her album cover, shame that the "industry" continues to force dated stereotypes upon female performers. Unless some members here might insist on equality and demand Paul in his boxers for his next album cover?????? Martin

I get that you don't like it, but I don't get the "dentures" analargy ... How strange Sounds good to me. I also think the Shins track indeed sounds a LOT like the Beach Boys.

Just a quick correction to your post: Not everyone in the US cares about what a holiday album is titled, and many in the US don't celebrate Christmas. The political correctness trend in the form of "family values" only applies to certain people, not all of us in the US. I don't want to be lumped into that category...

Correction accepted. In hindsight we get our share of complaints about the use of "Holidays" and other ambivalent terms for the late winter festival this side of the pond too. There are attempts to neutralise the seasonal holiday, supposedly out of respect to other religions beliefs. Although in recent years "Austerity" has also been used to justify diminishing extravagant street decorations. Fortunately major retail groups have far too much invested in this particular holiday with a huge percentage of annual profit directly linked to gift giving and "The Sales", so our town centres and retail parks are as lively and colourful as ever. I think he sounds great, seriously, I don't think his voice has a problem, he sounds dreamy. His voice is clear and sweet. imo.

The Shins knocked "Wonderful Christmastime" out of the park! I'll buy the album just for that cover.

Agreed. I think the whole compilation sounds like it could be a keeper. I'm glad the producers talked Paul into doing it. I actually think his KOTB voice provides just the right hint of old-school tradition to an otherwise eclectic mix of artists.

the fact is we dont even use the term 'holidays' to describe the christmas period in the slightest. im not sure if 'martin' is simply just sucking up to 'americanisms' or that he does have some american roots. the only way i could think the term would be used over here [UK] to describe a break would be in the kids holidays [6 weeks july/august] . one thing for sure, pauls father jim would be turning in his grave listening to such poppycock!.

Thanks for posting this link... I'm definitely going to get this one... I love Christmas time and it seems like it should be a great album. I like the groups on it!! Paul's voice sounds great Clear and dreamy... well that about sizes it up!! Referring to a different thread... I think some of the people complaining about his voice, are starting to sound a bit like cyber bullies to me... if they really feel that way, they can always just turn it off (enough is enough already ) .... but for me I still love to hear Paul singing, as do many of my friends...
