Very good, but he's "losing" his mind, not "loosing" it!

I can't say I agree with #10. Increasingly, I find myself playing "side 1" (through "New") and then stopping. The second half of the album is okay, but not remotely in the same league as the first.

If I tried writing something that summarizes this album, I couldn't do a better job than you have done with this list if I tried until Christmas. Rock on!!

Bruce, why don't you love "Road" and "I Can Bet"? Especially "Road." You might find yourself loving them later on Don't you love "Everybody Out There"--it's exuberant, catchy, infectious isn't it? "Hosanna" is a lovely lilting love (or lust too) song, sounds romantic and Southern European. "Looking at Her" what is about that one you think is mediocre?

Strangely enough its #10 that I have an issue with too but for a different reason. I really disagree that this album is 'full of life'. Band On The Run is full of life, being very vibrant and totally in your face.It has a very organic natural sound. But 'New' in comparison just has this very muted compressed sound where the vocals and instruments seem to struggle to get through the murk. Its only with the very last song, Scared, that Paul's vocals sound very natural, as if he's singing in the same room as the listener. If only the rest of the album had sounded like that.

I got it on CD. what song begins side 2?

"I don't like you" "I'll get over it"

For me the test of any song is, does it make me feel something emotionally? If it does, I can put up with a lot (for example, I don't like the production on "The End of the End," but it still gives me a lump in my throat). I do like "Everybody Out There" a lot -- it's my favorite song on the second half of the album. "Road," "Appreciate" and "Hosanna" all have a rather cold and distant quality I find unappealing. Before they're done, I'm ready for them to be over. I don't actively dislike them, they just don't do anything for me. "I Can Bet" is catchy but doesn't really make me feel anything either. I feel like he's done this song 50 times, with slight variations. This is one of the better versions, but ultimately, so what?. As for "Looking at Her," the only redeeming moment for me is the "losing my mind" section, which comes around a few times for less than 10 seconds. The falsetto portions make me cringe.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (a redundant term these days, I guess, best supplanted by a 'warped CD' or 'continuously buffering You Tube clip'), remove Scared and Hosanna, replace them with the bonus tracks, and NEW gains even more legs. A winner, nevertheless... but it does lose pace with Hosanna and leaving Scared as the closer is kind of like washing down a brilliant meal with a bowl of jelly.

Regarding #10 i must say that I also dont play the album from 1 to 15. I think it's a fantastic album, but not in terms of conceptual consistency, more like a collection of various great songs. Some I play a few times every day, some I'd skip for days (no idea why I have such problem with Hosanna for instance..).

                                    appreciate
