I was watching a few compilation Beatles & solo Beatles DVDs & Imagine is always included on John sets. I have seen that video for Imagine soooo many times. It made me wonder if there is any ONE video that Paul would be famous for? What do you think or which is your favorite? Feel free to post links to the video. This version of Hey Jude will probably be his "most famous" but what about as a solo artist? Hey Jude

Off the top of my head - Mull of Kintyre, Ebony and Ivory, Coming Up, Pipes of Peace (famous videos- not necessarily my favourites). I don`t think there is one iconic video for Paul (because he`s done so much more than John....).

To me, the video that would most fit this description from Paul's solo career would be the photo collage video of Maybe I'm Amazed...Not only a great song, but visually sets the scene of the more family orientated lifestyle he had just (at the time) begun But in saying that, it's not such a 'show case' or 'iconic' video as the Hey Jude and Image videos you mentioned (despite the fact that the song itself is)...and in saying that (in reverse), it may very well be that Paul doesn't have 'that one' video that historians would like to use to 'front' (or close) a documentary with that 'statement' video

Yeah I agree with Mull. And you hit the nail on the hrad...that Paul has done so many more than John. I just wonder what or which one he'll be remembered for. Maybe My Love?

My favorite is Press" but agree it would probably be "Maybe I'm Amazed". The other one that he might be remembered for would be "Ebony and Ivory".

                Maybe I'm amazed !!

If we were to only consider the quality of the video, without considering how iconic the song itself, then I would go with the 'Coming Up' video (not that Coming Up is a bad song,,but it doesn't represent 'vintage' Paul in my opinion...but I do like:-))

I think 'Coming Up' is regarded as a classic music video. I believe it was the first one of its kind. Phil Collins copied the idea several years later

So I think 'Coming Up' will always be the one the public remember straight away.

Band On the Run showing the cover shoot of the album is pretty famous, as is Say Say Say with Michael Jackson.

Fab choices Mine would be Calico Skies - not that he would necessarily be well-known for, but my absolute fave one, despite shedding a tear each and every time I watch it.

Totally agree but after seeing the Imagine vid in the white room with the white piano over & over...I wondered if there was something that will be played over & over after he is gone.

How about Live & Let Die? from the James Paul McCartney show
                                from the movie

I don't like the Band On The Run video at all. It's too 1960's for me.

So true, every one so far has been a great choice ... Paul has so many great songs! I think that I might choose ummm ummmm Maybe I'm Amazed or My Love, just because I remember how he sung these two in Detroit and it was very moving... I need to think on this one... Can there be just one?

Back in the day I watched the video for Stranglehold over and over...I'm not saying it's in the same league perhaps, but it worked for me back then. Hmm wonder what became of the lad??

Now Stranglehold is one that did not get a full video on the McCartney Years DVD from a few years back. I always wonder why. Good video.....

Since the live version of "Maybe I'm Amazed" is widely regarded as being far superior to the studio version...this will perhaps be his most iconic solo video--the one from the Wings Over America tour in 1976. Live and Let Die with the explosions from the same tour will probably be a close second as the showmanship they employed during this tour was quite rare in its day. The concert was expensive for it's day and Macca pulled out all the stops to put on the show of shows and leave his Beatle past behind. As far as many are concerned he succeeded quite well. The Deluxe remaster of Wings Over America is a bit pricey, but well worth the money. An incredibly well put together edition with incredible attention to detail! A must have if you're a McCartney fan.
