Besides these titles, it's strange that there seems to be no Beatles-related archive release at all this season, Paul or otherwise, unless I'm missing something?

You do seem to be missing something. Late March, the McCartney team released the latest Archive in Flowers in the Dirt. They have never had more than one archive release on different dates. They have occasionally released pairs on the same date but not on split dates. As far as Beatles, they released the 50th Anniversary Sgt Pepper boxed set in June. And BTW, it's awesome!!! As far as George, John and Ringo's solo sets, they have never released huge archive boxed sets celebrating a single album like MCCartney. However, John and George have both released boxed sets of their albums remastered. John in a single boxed set and George with two smaller boxed sets. At this point, Ringo is the only one left to remaster and re-release his solo catalog. In addition, John has released a large Anthology box with lots of outtakes. I really doubt much more is left in the Lennon vaults. There would be no reason to expect additional archive sets by either Paul or Apple. But these release of the Concorde sets sans bonus tracks actually is smart and would have been eventually done to restock the shelves with all of the sets now available under the Capitol label instead of the original Concorde label that Paul was with at the time of their original release. Plus, Christmas time is the best time to put those things back out there. I think initially, they had expected the new studio album by Paul to be done by now. I say this as they offered copies as part of ticket buying for the concerts this year. As we all know, new album is not coming this year and by recent interviews is not even done yet

Sorry, I guess my question was not clear. Yes, I know about all of those things (and I have them all!), I'm talking about THIS season, the holiday season. I shouldn't have used the word "archive," I meant just general reissues from the archives of the Beatles or solo Beatles. There is usually SOMETHING for the Christmas season, other than the sets that have already been coming out all year. "Anthology" on Blu-ray, perhaps? "Early Takes, Vol. 2" from George? But I suppose you're right that all year they've been gambling on a new Paul album coming out this fall, and they wanted everyone focused on that, maybe mindful of the fact that they put out the second Beatles BBC collection in the same fall season as "New," and that maybe "New" would have done better if that were the only release. And I do agree with your reasoning for the vinyl Paul releases, because I said it two weeks ago, on the previous page of this thread: "Seems to me that they realized there was no other McCartney product ready to go for this fall, so they came up with this idea."

Well, what do you know? Something is coming out for the holiday season: https://thebeatlesstore.com/products/the-christmas-records

Wow how cool are those album song covers?

They are identical to the covers of the original flexi-discs sent to us Beatles Fan Club members!

'Christmas Time (is Here Again)' is a classic, but you never see it on any Beatles greatest hits compilations.

The coloured vinyl re-releases are "limited edition". Anyone know to what extent they are limited? 2,000, 20,000, 200,000?

No, but when I went to Lou's Records today, they only had the Color Vinyl reissues. I didn't see any on black vinyl. So my guess is those are the initial "limited" releases, and when those are gone they will re-press on black vinyl. MPL/Capitol also reissued the CD's. The albums say Made in Germany, on 180 Gram Vinyl with mp3 download cards. I picked up a copy of McCartney on red vinyl. I will probably also get Tug Of War. BTW, these are all the single LP versions in the original packaging. No Deluxe Box Sets or double Archive LP's put out by Concord. So if you can find those, snatch them up before they're gone forever. Wings Over America was not reissued. Yet. I hope Capitol will pick up where the series left off, and put out Archive reissues of Wildlife/Red Rose Speedway and London Town/Back To The Egg to somewhat complete the picture.

The unreleased songs from those album/sessions are the ones I really want. Probably his best unreleased material came from those 4 album sessions. I wonder why the wait for it?

                      "Love Comes To Everyone"

                      George Harrison

I'm really looking forward to the 'Wild Life / Redrose Speedway' pairing, not just for the unissued recordings but also for the films such as the 1972 ICA rehearsals, 'Wings over Europe' concerts, the Bruce McMouse Show (even if uncompleted) , the James Paul McCartney tv special and the 1973 British tour shows. There's plenty of material to choose from.

I think most of Wings albums had picture sleeves for the records. At least the first pressings. I do not recall a lyric sheet for McCartney though, so that was a surprise. Maybe that was in England only?

You can see the differences in the new colored vinyl reissues here. He forgets to pull out the new lyric sheet for “RAM,” but he says on his blog that it is in there, with two photos on it as well. There are many differences!

It's got to be "V&M"/"Speed". They officially teased that pairing in a card that came inside the McCartney and McCartney II boxes back in 2011. A couple of years ago, Paul's manager said in an interview that there would not be more than maybe 8 or 9 of these big deluxe reissues, so any way you count them, they're definitely near the end. I do hope they continue on with other releases in smaller packages, but still with a bonus CD and a DVD. And now that the U.S. tour is finally all announced, I'll bet we get an announcement on the next set in the next week or two, since they're supposedly coming June 17th.

sooooo... how update is the new board...?

While I was listening to Chris Carter this morning (JUNE 8TH 2018 Sirius channel 18), Chris mentioned that the new Archive Release will be:

*Wildlife coupled with Red Rose Speedway

It was a quick mention after playing a Red Rose Speedway song (Get On the Right Thing) on the radio.  He might have mentioned a release time (I think he said this Fall but not sure).  Maybe someone can check this out and get a confirmation.

Those appear to be next but with a very crowded 2nd half of the year for Beatles releases, it will be interesting to see if they can squeeze it in. There is no official word as of yet
