Just met Paul
-
I was standing outside Crate and Barrel waiting for my sister and he came out of Ralph Lauren HQ next door. I said my wife and I had my valentine as our first dance last year, he said that's great and stuck out his hand to shake mine and said give your wife my best. What a guy. I may die happy now
-
OMG! How lucky are you!!! FAB edit to add...you shoulda asked about if he'd be performing on Dave's show.
-
I was struggling to maintain the function of my lungs so was struggling with things to say!! I actually had a copy of new that I'd just bought in urban outfitters and asked him to sign but he said he doesn't do that anymore. I don't blame him given they all end up on ebay (mine however would never leave my wall if I got one)

. Congrats, man - that's awesome. And also, extra props for not getting upset with him for declining to sign the cd...as you mentioned, he probably gets a lot of people sticking stuff in his face all the time and thus, it's understandable why folks of his stature may tire of it...Sounds like he was otherwise polite and appreciative of your comment (re: Valentine)

I don't think you can be upset with him, only if you are trying to make money from it. He lives a few streets away from me so I've seen him a few times and nancy quite a bit but this was the first time I plucked up the courage to speak. He was super nice about it and apologized for not signing. It was an LP so if it had been something else then maybe but meeting him and him shaking my hand is just incredible. I was shaking!

Cool! That would be good enough for me!

That's too bad that he didn't sign. It's not like you were waiting for him. That's where all the autograph hounds are...just waiting by his car when he makes an appearance...holding out all kinds of albums. What are the odds that you'd have his NEW vinyl & bump into him?
-
Congrats. That is so neat.
-
The perfect remedy for a gloomy, cold day. Congrats! Some people can only dream about such a thing happening. Awesome.

The tricky part would have been if he had said yes due to the lack of pen! I wouldn't have had any idea unless I hadn't over heard a staff member say OMG Paul McCartney is coming down right now. I still hope I can get something signed or a photograph in the future but the idea of hassling someone, regardless of their fame, makes me a little uneasy.

Oh gosh no...I didn't at all mean to hassle him. No way! Now these are the autograph hounds & are probably on ebay right now.

It ruins it for genuine fans. I would be embarrassed seeing a photo of myself with my elbow in someones eye trying to get his autograph. Plus it was pouring with rain and freezing cold so I am eternally grateful for our 10-15 seconds of conversation.

Yeah...look at some of those people.

Didn't realize at first that Nancy is also in that photo...so many fans descending on him. One funny side note/question...with so many of the objects fans want signed being a lot of the 'same old, same old', I wonder if he's ever been blown away by a uniquely cool item to sign (aside from arms and backs while up on stage...LOL)...especially in recent years
-
Andy, that is so cool! I know I would feel the same way (can die happy now) if I ever got to meet him.

that is WONDERFUL! Congrats, what a day for you!
I walked by him quite by accident last summer ( was running an errand during my lunch) and though I didn't talk to him (happened too fast) it was lovely to know that I was that close. I can imagine what it was like for you to talk to him and shake his hand!
You'll cherish that for the rest of your life!
-
You lived my dream. as far as unique objects, I remember someone asking a Trek actress what was the most unique thing she was ever asked to sign and she replied, "I can't answer that. It would be naughty." Her next question was, "Did you sign it?"

That's brilliant and proves the old adage that the best way of meeting Paul McCartney is not to try to.
-
My sister once seen him with Beatrice in a play area park in London. It was years ago and she said he looked miserable. She text me while she was in the play area with him and I replied to go over and speak to him, put him onto me lol. But she didn't want to. She said nobody approached him but it was obvious that the 6-8 other adults in the park knew who he was and she felt sorry for Paul because they were all staring at him. And I think a handshake is better than an autograph.
-
I think a photograph would have been better than an autograph, I actually feel embarrassed that he would have thought I was a typical autograph hunter and wished I hadn't asked but he was so friendly afterwards. If I see him again I will probably just say hello rather than request anything from him.
