I was out of touch on a windless island at the time, so I don't remember much about the Rockestra era. The print is occasionally muddled, like one of my old stretched cassettes. The ad breaks are not well coordinated to the video. The Rockestra composition is repeated throughout the 43 minute film. If this is a bit of trouble due to copyrights, please feel free to delete this post, and contact YouTube.

I like the Rockestra theme and seeing these great musicians of that time is amazing together around Paul, doing his tune, but was the idea successful? these musicians were the best, while the tune is very very simple to do, it didnt need that much of musicians, the tune does not change at all, there is no input from any of the guest players. Hank Marvin or Pete Townsend or Dave Gilmour or Lawrence Jubar could have put and added something in, not just repeating the same tune over and over! wings members were more than enough to do the track. was there an intended more tracks and more inputs from the others?? I wonder what Paul was thinking when he decided to bring these great people together in studio. maybe he was planning to do a much bigger thing or a project but things didnt work out as it was supposed to be?! who knows!

I like the theme too, and the behind-the scenes look at the session. Also of interest is the retro look at the Abbey Road Studios, as in "If these walls could speak". As for the composition itself, I hear it as a song of malaise and urgency, similar to "Freeway Jam" and "Rock and Roll Part 2", or like Nino Rota in a Fellini score, so I find the redundant laissez faire-with-energy feeling and approach to be appropriate.

On a related note, Laurence Juber is coming out with a book called, "Guitar with Wings" with a bunch of photos he took while he was in Wings, including photos he took during the Rockestra sessions.

The Rockestra sessions were filmed with hidden cameras. Apart from Paul and Linda (maybe the rest of Wings), none of the participants knew they were being filmed. The aim was for greatness: the outcome was a little underwhelming, but it is nice to have, nonetheless.

What an assembly of talent there. I've always loved this behind the scenes look.

Could've always been better than the actual output. Love Paul's voice, when he let it rip. But it was so fleeting. I love the theme. In the end... and I hate to say it... as powerful as the gathering was, it was a wasted opportunity... I do enjoy the output.... but it should've been better, with that talent

They did perform it in 1979.

Entire Kampuchea(Rockestra at the end) Paul is a great show closer!

Hopefully BTTE will be included in the Archive Collection of Remasters. There certainly seems to be alot of great potential extras surrounding this terribly underappreciated album in my opinion.

I remember at the time seeing film of this 'supergroup' and getting the impression, rightly or wrongly, that some of them were thinking "here we go, another of Paul's vanity projects !"  Certainly Hank Marvin, probably the most talented of the guitarists on show, should have been given a chance to shine. He is a superb jazz player in addition to the classic hit records he's known for with Cliff and with the Shadows. Instead he was submerged with the rest. Not Paul's finest moment, I have to say.

I think the session probably sounded amazing in the studio at the time but on record,it didn't come across well. A bog standard Wings performace would have achieved the same result without having to waste the time and talents of Gilmour,Marvin & co.

I'm so glad someone posted the Rockestra video's.  I remember about a year ago hoping that Back to the Egg was the next Archive package to be released instead of Flaming Pie.  Just looking at the "Rockestra" videos reminds me how great a Back to the Egg (and maybe adding Londontown) Archive Package could be.  It might be the first Super Deluxe Archive edition I could buy.  There is so much potential material I would want.

I love Paul's voice in both video's.  He was still singing at a great level during the "Back to the Egg" years.  To this day, I think his "live" version of "Let It Be" in 1979 was his personal best.  He did his "soul" style which I loved.  Back to the Egg and Londontown sessions could contain so many "extra songs" (not on the albums) plus you have the 1979 Live Shows in Europe that could be part of the package.
