Does Paul do enough?
-
I was wondering in the context of the philanthropic activites that Paul is involved in if you think he does enough. I mean some things are on a global and financially motivated track and others are more personal. All charities need money but it's not ALL about money is it? It's that he's given much of who he is and inspires us. What ways has Paul inspired you? What charities do you think are most worthwhile? Does involvement encourage you to get involved as well?

What makes me like Paul as a person is his comitment to protect animals...that i think is much bigger then helping "people who themself have put them were there are"....maybe som people dont like what im saying....but helping animals that cant talk and communicate as people makes him in my mind a very lovely human!!!

I think Paul is very committed to the causes he takes on but there is only so much anyone can do, especially when he is so busy.
-
Paul is trying to make sure people realize how important it is to foster music in school with the www.musiclives.com site. I wonder if he thinks it will make any difference.
-
Zack, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I also wish he'd give to alzheimer's research. Who knows, maybe he does. I am a person who gives to both causes, as both are near and dear to my heart. If only I were wealthy, I'd give a lot more. Be well, everyone. P.S. Did you see the pics & story on Paul's children's book just released?
-
I think Paul does enough, he's a busy man and you can expect him to be more involved in charity than he is today. He's travelling around the world doing concerts making people happy, for that we should be grateful.
-
Paul has said that if he is seen promoting a cause it is because he really believes in it. Surely we would rather have him do that than turn up at every charity ball? I think the problem is, alot of people think Paul should be supporting their pet charity - but it may not be something that Paul feels passionately about or even approves of. Paul is an activist for what he believes in. I don`t know how anyone could even suggest that he does not do enough.

I agree with femaleanimal PLUS I bet he and Heather make a lot of generous and anonymous donations.

...yes....

It might make a difference. I was in public education with even my music education being threatened in Canada. It's world over. The music department (or drama department) is usually the first to go. Any fine arts is subjected to this. Art even. It's culture that enriches everyone and it's usually the first to go. I've read about this. And isn't there a bracelet that was "signed" by Paul McCartney? I would love one of those, and especially if I can donate. Or help... even after Christmas and all of it's consumerism.

Actually, I was pretty disappointed with him that he didn't take the Breast Cancer cruscade anywhere. After losing his mother, wife and having daughters that are high risk for the disease from both sides of the family.
-
People who usually do the most don't boast about it.
-
Undun, that I would agree with that. A couple of years ago he made I believe a two million dollar donation in Linda's name. Personally the bigger question one should ask, is not if someone else does enough, but do we?

I know what I do... Suddenly, making people aware goes out the window? Paul made one public service piece after Linda died, for breast cancer awareness and testing....and then jumped on the Landmine issue when he met Heather. I've never heard Breast Cancer out of him again. He walked around in Landmine T-Shirts at his concerts, when he could have made some nice and important announcements during October which is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Paul does seem to follow whatever issues are important to his wives. It would have been nice and constructive for him to give this killer some attention. And spin it anyway you want to, he dropped the ball big time when he could have made a difference for a disease that killed two women in his life and has daughters that are high candidates for it....

Not directed at you tripping in particular. We are speculating on what he does and doesn't do. And in another thread you called me out on "speculating". We don't know the total of what he does. Period. Perhaps we should all concentrate on what we do for the world. If we all did as much as we publically know Paul did, the world would be in better shape. and to your point, his generousity toward Lipa had nothing to with either of his wives, as well as Recording artists against drunk driving, I could go on. And there is nothing wrong with joining your wife on a campaign. It's called support. That is usually regarded as a good thing.
-
It is quite clear that he does nothing publicly for Breast Cancer or it's awareness, no matter what anyone wants to speculate on what is done on the QT, when he is extremely public on other causes.
-
what does that mean, he does nothing for it publically. Why does it have to be done publically. To satisfy you?
-
What do his daughters do? It`s actually more pertinent to them.
-
We have no idea of what Paul does privately in regards to any charity. What is wrong with that? I don't find it necessary for Paul to make a public statement every time he makes a donation to charity. Mary and Stella helped open the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool, didn't they? The family was represented when it opened.

Stella is on the "Fashion Target Breast Cancer" commitee and works with them every year on their line...Designed the "Key for the Cure" T-Shirt....Was the youngest recipient of the "Courage Award" for all her Breast Cancer efforts...has involved herself with fashion photo shoots for magazines on Breast Cancer Awareness....Mary works with Cherie Blair on Breast Cancer campaigns every year and even did a special exhibition of her photgraphs for Breast Cancer Awareness. Both Mary and Stella made their visit to Linda's Breast Cancer unit public for Breast Cancer Awareness..... It's just a shame that the McCartney with the loudest voice pushed the cause to the side and became silent when he could have done a lot of public good with it.
