The Rook doesn't like blocking a passed pawn. He would prefer to be wreaking havoc upon the opponents' camp, not just standing in front of a passed pawn looking like a dumbass.

The Chessmaster 4000 Turbo program is my favorite. It was first published in 1993 and it may not be as strong as the new free chess softwares in the Internet but it has many features that are essential into becoming a chess master.

I like the original Chessmaster game. And I prefer to use an actual chess board. My dad taught me how to play chess when I was 4 or 5 years old.
He always told me "protect the important pieces especially the Queen piece." lol. -
It was my father, too, who taught me the moves. I just play chess then because I like the beautiful Stauntonized pieces. If they were humans or dinosaurs, most likely, I would not get attracted to the game. So thanks to Howard Staunton.

The Chess game I believe came from Northen India. Many believe it's a Chinese game but I doubt that. I think Chess came more from India than China.

I think so, too. Up to this day, I still don't know much about the history or evolution of chess (I'm now focusing on classic games and openings) but I read that the Rook's castle shape came from the farsi Indian pieces which represented the tower carried by the elephant.

By the way, congratulations to Wesley So for winning the High Stakes Chess today. He is a Filipino, he was a prodigy, but he is now based in the US under the tutelage of the great Susan Polgar. And I think he also won the great Capablanca tournament recently.
