Fan On The Run needs our prayers

Many of you know (or have heard of) Rick Glover. He recently got up on stage with Paul after seeing about 120 concerts. He's a personal friend of mine and also lives in Atlanta (I've known him since the early '80's) We had the soundcheck "dinner" together last Oct. in Atlanta. Rick posted this on his FB page along with a photo of himself holding a Fans On The Run button while getting Chemo: I always enjoy starting a status update with "I did something new today that I have never done before"......like when I started working in films and TV, or like when I was on stage with Paul McCartney. (Did you hear about that?) Well, this is one of those 'something new' days. Today I began Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments - because a little while ago I was diagnosed with a generous case of thyroid cancer. I say generous, because it has been shared with my throat and tongue. Some scans and some doctors opinions showed concerns that the generosity might have got to my brain and lungs. Many unpleasant possibilities and options and outcomes have been overwhelming lately. I have been scared. Very scared. Crosby, Stills, and Nash scared. After a few weeks in a flurry of doctors and scans and stuff, fortunately the brain and lungs have been cleared, and I was told that the treatment for the 3T's above will only involve chemotherapy and radiation treatments. And only for a couple of months or so. I know this is gonna be a rough time, but I am gonna do whatever it takes to deal with this stuff. I have had to do some prep-work in the last few weeks, like spending a Small Eternity in the dentist chair - with lots of great drugs [and medicine, too] , going from a room to a lab, to a clinic to a lab, to a room and a room and a room, I hit the threshold of happiness today and started the heavy lifting. I am not sure how much this may zap my system and how much I will be on-line [or not] but I will keep you all posted. I intend to keep up with the 50th anniversary stuff and I intend to be back On The Run again soon [So, hey Macca, need a few shows, say around Halloween again? eh?] I have told a few about this already and certainly feel the great vibes coming in from all over - please send more good vibes, magic fairy dust, cosmic noodles, prayers and karma. I have complete confidence in my doctors and the processes they are using, and I am confident I can do this. Peace and Love, Spay and Neuter, Cancer Sucks If you are on FB, give him a shoutout!

Listening to Macca music will help Rick heal, feeling that Macca magic and glow if he is able to access that again, now. Best wishes to him and prayers. It looks very good that he will beat this

Hey Nancy. Thanks for the info. I am not on Facebook so thank you for sharing this info on "fans on the run." Rick, I am so saddened by the fact you are going thru such bad, sad and painful times. And I know sometimes we listen to people and hear what they have to say; but sweetheart, you need to be strong. Be alive, stay alive! You need to enjoy and think about all the good times you have had. All the great memories past and present. Do not, I repeat, do not succumb to such a disease. I know it's easier said than done. But please try to stay strong and be strong. Try to be happy and not sad. And that's so great seeing the beautiful sense of humor you have. But unfortunately sometimes when we think the worse; it happens. So dont think negative thoughts. Think about ALL the beautiful 120 times you've seen Macca; Maybe I'm amazed, yes I am amazed; which I'm certain has been many of the wonderful times of your life; besides, of course, your family (& friends). My prayers are going your way and I am thinking positive thoughts. Peace and love to you always. Joanne

I think Rick has actually seen Paul about 135 times (surely a record!) Rick and I used to run into each other all the time at Atlanta Beatle/Paul/Ringo functions (1995 & 1996 Beatles conventions, 1997 Ringo show at Chastain Park, Atlanta, 2002 Atlanta Paul concert where he was so excited because he'd just seen Paul at the Limo watch and gotten his signature on his Fans On The Run sign, 2013 in Memphis and 2014 in Atlanta where he gave me my first FOTR bracelet) He brought part of his Beatles memorabilia collection to one of the above mentioned conventions and it filled a rather large room. And I thought I had a lot of stuff!! Rick is just the greatest guy and I hate like hell that this has happened to him. But if anybody can beat it, and deserves to, it is him! CANCER ON THE RUN!!

Hello everyone! I was just told about this thread here, and wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate your good vibes and positive thoughts. I have finished the chemo-therapy, and only have about a dozen more radiation treatments to go. The tumor is GREATLY reduced, and fortunately I am going to be back to normal, and 'on the run' again soon. It looks like I will probably have to sit out this next round of shows in October, so all my fellow Fans On The Run will have to represent our group! Looking forward to seeing you all, and thanking you each in person again real soon. Thanks again for your support! Peace and Love Spay and Neuter Rick G......Fans On The Run
