Poor "Maybe, I'm Amazed". He wants to sing it so bad. Gee, plenty of other songs he could sing to Linda. Yes, he SHOULD cut it; I hope Nancy will convince him of that. Glad your girlfriend loved the show, Wix Rocks, but sorry the audience was so dis-respectful. She didn't need to see that! Was Temp. Secy. still there?

________________________________________________________ Pennywhistlelane Love your website name. I've been saying this for the last 3 years about MIA. I think it almost has to come from one of his children. I give him credit for trying but he needs to know that people want to remember the song the way he used to be able to sing it. It's like a great athlete who stays in the game too long. I'm older but Mohammad Ali and Willie Mays come to mind. People (especially younger ones) only remember how bad they look. For people who saw them at their best, it is especially hard to watch. You are so right. There are so many other songs that Paul could do that are far more in his current vocal range. He sounds so good on a song like "Save Us" because he sings it with ease.

I'm turning 70 in a 2 months, so I understand how Paul feels about certain things and I sure feel sorry for him when he tries to sing something and his voice just isn't there any more. I use the name Penny Whistle Lane as I play the Penny Whistle, ha ha ha

Regarding the encore: did the band leave the stage without bowing to the audience again (like they did after Hey Jude) and left Paul to sing Yesterday with Wix?

Yes. But also, a person's voice changes as they age. Mick Jagger can still do Stones songs because they were not at a high pitch to start. It is not likely Paul could do Maybe I'm Amazed at 73 even had he not smoked. But it might be a bit easier, or a little better.

Without pot... no "Rubber soul", without LSD... no "Sgt. Pepper", there is nothing to blame... this guy is the most successful recording artist ever. If he smoked cigarettes, I recommend that you do too.

Actually, Sgt. Pepper was Macca's coke period.

Well, I think really he has been one of the more cautious. I don't think he will be remembered as one of the madmen in rock history. Maybe not as conservative as Bruce Springsteen, but...

Nup. I put it down to age. 70 is NOT the new 40.

Tried it what, once, maybe twice and hated it. There was no "coke period" truth be told.

I hear natural wear and tear in his voice. Nothing to blame other than a life sung. Maybe there are some singers of his age with clearer voice. But that's how it is, at least how I see it, we all age with different strengths and weaknesses.

Another thing, look at his energy, the creativity. I bet there are 70 year olds who maybe kept their clear voice but wished they had his inventiveness. Hey, I bet there are 20 year olds...

That's how I perceive it too. When I was younger I honestly thought he'd be unable to last an entire concert at age 60! I thought the Driving tour was the last hurrah! It's lasted well his voice overall. Nobody had any right to even think he'd still be pulling off wonderful gigs regularly in his mid 70's.

According to biographer Christopher Sandford's book on Macca, it was a full-fledged yet "discreet" habit during the entire making of the album. And big deal if it was; Macca eventually decided that he didn't like the come-downs and moved on.

Then why did Tina Turner, who was nearly 70 the year her comeback tour ended in 2009, sound remarkably, vocally fit after an eight-year hiatus from touring?

I associate the 70s more with cocaine. "Sgt. Pepper" is pyschedelic, so... LSD. I've never used much drugs myself. I tried to smoke some hashish when I was about 20 years old but I only became paranoid. And on a music festival in 1991, after been drinking I was stupid enough to say yes to LSD. I ended up in the hospital and was very close to the coocoo's nest, it was the last time for me, with drug experimentation. I just came to the conclusion that it was not for me. But I've always listened to a lot of so called 'drug music'. I'm fond of psychedelia... so well, I've never been moralistic about it or anything. I've always thought that whatever it takes for an artist to find inspiaration, I just have to accept it. It's none of my business, so to speak. The record is GREAT, shut up and

For the same reason Keith, Brian, Elton, Rod, Dylan, Plant and so many others (and heaps from the 70's do not.) Luck of the draw (nature) along with lifestyle (self inflicted) Actually come to think of it Tina's voice was always pretty raspy and weathered So I'd be hard pressed to notice if it was in decline.

Carlos, In Philadelphia, everyone bowed after "Hey Jude". The stage cleared, lights down...lights up and everyone came back with flags. Then everyone except Paul and Wix left for "Yesterday". In Charlottesville, everyone bowed after "Hey Jude". The stage cleared, lights down...lights up and everyone came back with flags then right into "Another Girl".
