Talking about Thailand with someone I met today. It sounds really nice. He said the people are great, with a Buddhist philosophy.

Some of the friendliest people in the world. Even the taxi drivers and scam artists who tried to rip us off on the street were very friendly. They usually smiled and laughed when we busted them. Kickboxing is the national sport, but you're as safe as anything walking down the street because no one will even think about attacking you.

thanks, I'm so glad to hear that. I hear one more remote area has had a lot of murders of British tourists. I don't want to go there! however I saw the man again and he's been going there for years! He loves it and lives there half the year!

Third time's the charm-"I've Just Seen a Face" on car radio last night when I got in car and turned it on--has happened three times lately, now. First "Let it Be" then "Band on the Run" and now this folksy Paul number. They weren't always on oldies stations either. Were on "Bob F.M." and a local station and I don't know what else.

British tourists are easy targets, but based on my very limited experience, I'd say Thailand is one of the safest countries to visit as a foreigner. You never see the xenophobia that's so popular in a lot of other places. It might be there, but you never see it. The biggest risk for foreigners is if you want to smuggle drugs. But that's probably not a great idea in any country.

No, no drug smuggling Is it safe for a woman alone? Or would a tour be better, do you think? I want to go to Morocco but know I have to take a tour there...

I don't know about Morocco, but there are entire countries in East Asia where women can walk alone down the deepest, darkest alleys in the middle of the night without any problems. It's just not the kind of culture that sees women as objects to be treated like garbage. China isn't exactly a beacon of freedom and human rights, but women and children are safe from the hatred that's so popular in other countries.

                              Culturally very difficult to imagine...

I've been in giant cities with millions of people and walked down dark streets I would avoid in Los Angles or New York. They're usually safer because there are fewer scooters. That's the big street danger in East Asia.

Buddy and sally speaking . Sally singing out her seal pup sound. When they get in there affectionate moods, the birds and the bees type sometimes they have gotten around actually sattisfying other first then each other. Usally thats a male animal behavior but now Sally has made it an activity when females have come of age. love doris
