Thinking of saving up for an electric car.  I know there are going to be or already are rebates. Tesla is building a big building near me. Think it may be a car dealership. Hopefully Elon will get the prices down more, once we collectively realise we need to make the switch.  Just saw that the Tesla wall battery is ramping up sales.  Wanted to get a solar roof however, they're claiming you can also use the solar wall as a generator when the power gets cut in a hurricane.  Elon also recently unveiled a new solar powered small house for as low as $15,000. Amazing and hopefully it can help the homeless.

Conspiracy theory: (not mine)  Skyrocket gasoline prices to get people to switch to electric cars - because electric cars cannot compete or sell as well as gas cars until they get gas over five dollars and more per gallon. This plan started before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but is now being blamed on it.

Yikes!! Gas at Kroger is $3.74! I can't remember when I last filled up. Probably over a month ago. I think I still have half a tank and I've been going to more places (doctors, etc) lately but all are only about 5 miles from my house. Since my mom isn't driving anymore, I alternate cars. I love my 2-seater sports car, so will keep her 4-door Honda Fit if needed to take more people or put the back seats down and haul something large. Insurance is only $188/mo for both cars now.

Here in Hilo, Hawaii, the cheapest gas reported by websites that monitor such things is $5.06, with most places at $5.28 or higher. Hopefully the supply bottlenecks on computer chips will ease and the car companies will have more electric vehicles to sell without outrageous dealer markup because of low inventory and waiting lists. More affordable models are in the works from GM and others, but mostly they're a couple years away. FYI, if something smallish works for you, my Hyundai Kona Electric is great -- and easily exceeds the EPA-listed 258 mile range. List price starts at about $38K, but it qualifies for the $7,500 federal tax credit. And it's a total hoot to drive.

Yikes! It's $4.09 here and I filled up both cars at Kroger recently and got $1.05 per gallon off on each. Each car still had 1/4 tank or more, so cost about $20 each. One car is a Honda Fit and the other is a Honda CR-Z gas/electric hybrid.

Time to get a hybrid or an electric car! Gas is about $4.49 at Costco.

$2.15/litre this morning in my part of the world. We will see it rise to $2.25 by the start of summer & go higher. Definitely plan our trips & thankful we're retired.

It seems like everything is getting higher & higher. I saw a dozen of eggs at the store today for $2.50. They used to be .99 on sale.

Prices have more than doubled in 18 months.
The cost of shipping (by truck) have gone up incredibly-

Diesel is higher than gas in many places.

between the cost of gas and the 40 year high inflation with no end or leveling point  - this is hurting a lot of people and adding tons of stress.
Some people are already talking of the breaking point where it isn't even worth going to work and spending a great deal on gas and groceries ...

nobody in government is offering a relax the tax on gas - no cap or freeze

It stinks - some of it is or was avoidable as a gut guess, I couldn't prove right now - higher up decisions and incompetence get hidden well at the peoples expense.

Yikes! I remember in 2006 when it was "only" 99 pence/litre! And I thought that was an outrageous price, since there are 3.785 litres in a gallon.

That means it is $8.14/gallon!! (Your price was listed in U.S. $, right?)

Everything started going up when Putin invaded Ukraine in February. I have to think that has a lot to do with it.

$2.15 Cdn. per litre. It's crazy; especially if you drive a pickup & commute a distance for work.

Okay, well then with the exchange rate (1 CD = .80 USD) it is still an outrageous $6.47/gallon USD!

In Chicago it's $5.80-6.10. A tiny bit cheaper in the burbs.

Kroger went up from $4.09 to $4.19 a couple days ago. Glad I filled up both cars when I did. Now won't have to buy gas for probably 2 months or more.
