Where I live it averages around £1.35 per litre. You need to multiply that by 6.1933 to get the figure in US dollars per gallon, so that's: $8.36 STOP MOANING OVER THERE!
Such a rip off, but...what can we do?!
Gasoline should be $ 2.00 a gallon U.S. . ...everywhere on earth
minimum wage should be $10.00 an hour...moderate wage $100.00 an hour and maximum wage...$1,oo0 an hour
-
Our gas here in the burbs is only $4.27...downtown it must be 4.75! :

Yo People - I haven't even watched the video but can tell you it's baloney because regardless what was stated there, the president has said the following during the past several days: He can not do anything about high cost of fuel because even increasing drilling or opening the reserves will not help He will dip into the reserves to help offset the cost He's not going to dip into the reserves to help offset the cost ^^^The US President's three day track record...and he called Mitt Romney a flip flopper...all while taking cheap shots at the Republican nominees

how high is gas by you Rich?
-
The gas discounts at the local supermarkets help a little.

how high is gas by you Rich?
Cheapest is 3.69 (a local Gulf as well as a BJ's Wholesale gas station) with the mid 3.80 range being the norm...I should add that this is for my immediate area in 'suburban west' (as the name implies - the suburbs west of Boston )...In Boston, Cambridge, Allston, Brighton, and other places in the more immediate urban areas, prices were higher

It's funny that Obama is trying to take credit for the recent increase of oil production...because it's actually increased inspite of him. Obama is cutting back on federal drilling and that is down by roughly 70%. President Bush actually issue the permits for drilling on private lands...ironically, that called for an increase by 70%. The reason the increases show up now is because it take crude oil 3-4 years to become processed...Obama's idea is Solyndra, Ener1 and the Chevy Volt...the first two are bankrupt after the administration invested millions and the car is on it's way to failure...it has sold just over 600 units to a customer with an average income of more than $160K...no one in the middle or low class is buying that hunk of junk...and that's what it is - a piece of crap car with hyped up prices due to the 'green' add ons.
-
Why is the price higher in Europe as some have stated in this thread? Supply & demand? Is it because we use more here? Does Europe & the rest of the world have more effecient cars? Not the gas guzzlers that we have? All I know is that it hurts the pocketbook when our gas is approaching $5 gallon...outside of Chicago.
-
It hurts the pocket book, adds stress, and anger ..... but it is not going to get me to buy an electric car .... too expensive and I am not looking for a new car .... it is not going to get me to buy one of those go-cart, golf cart, wheel chair looking gas savers ..... too expensive ... can't afford one at this time .... not looking for a new car ..... not looking for a used car either .... if they are trying to force a change of decision and habits ..... alright OUT you GO at Election time .... (What was that?!?!)
-
We walk whenever possible & always, always consolidate errands to saveon gas.

Here is how gas price is calculated..the real price of gas:
We are in transition. The sooner that people wake up to the fact that oil is finite and we have to move to cleaner energy..the better. After all we've only known about peak oil for at least 50 years All that time the republicans in the US have been obstructing on any solutions. They have rejected raising cafe standards (mpg) for forever. Even reagan removed Carter's solar panels from the White House stupid I moved to a walkable neighborhood about 8 years ago so I don't even have to use a car. I either walk, ride my bike or use bus service(which is convenient) Hey, I knew what was going to happen with gasoline a long time ago. -
^^Your holier than thou attitude really makes a person *want* to read what you have posted. Gosh, has no one ever heard the saying...you catch more flies with honey than being mean.

(Thanks to people like Chris Dodd and Barney Frank). (These homes are considered to be underwater). Many do not have their city laid out like the one that you are in - jobs and locations can be spread throughout a city and suburbs. Not too many jobs are secure in any way to risk a move. Oil is used in so many products - not all related to the automobile. Many have jobs which require travel and the use of a personal vehicle. Good luck avoiding products on this list. A partial list of products made from Petroleum (144 of 6000 items) One 42-gallon barrel of oil creates 19.4 gallons of gasoline. The rest (over half) is used to make things like: Solvents Diesel fuel Motor Oil Bearing Grease Ink Floor Wax Ballpoint Pens Football Cleats Upholstery Sweaters Boats Insecticides Bicycle Tires Sports Car Bodies Nail Polish Fishing lures Dresses Tires Golf Bags Perfumes Cassettes Dishwasher parts Tool Boxes Shoe Polish Motorcycle Helmet Caulking Petroleum Jelly Transparent Tape CD Player Faucet Washers Antiseptics Clothesline Curtains Food Preservatives Basketballs Soap Vitamin Capsules Antihistamines Purses Shoes Dashboards Cortisone Deodorant Footballs Putty Dyes Panty Hose Refrigerant Percolators Life Jackets Rubbing Alcohol Linings Skis TV Cabinets Shag Rugs Electrician's Tape Tool Racks Car Battery Cases Epoxy Paint Mops Slacks Insect Repellent Oil Filters Umbrellas Yarn Fertilizers Hair Coloring Roofing Toilet Seats Fishing Rods Lipstick Denture Adhesive Linoleum Ice Cube Trays Synthetic Rubber Speakers Plastic Wood Electric Blankets Glycerin Tennis Rackets Rubber Cement Fishing Boots Dice Nylon Rope Candles Trash Bags House Paint Water Pipes Hand Lotion Roller Skates Surf Boards Shampoo Wheels Paint Rollers Shower Curtains Guitar Strings Luggage Aspirin Safety Glasses Antifreeze Football Helmets Awnings Eyeglasses Clothes Toothbrushes Ice Chests Footballs Combs CD's & DVD's Paint Brushes Detergents Vaporizers Balloons Sun Glasses Tents Heart Valves Crayons Parachutes Telephones Enamel Pillows Dishes Cameras Anesthetics Artificial Turf Artificial limbs Bandages Dentures Model Cars Folding Doors Hair Curlers Cold cream Movie film Soft Contact lenses Drinking Cups Fan Belts Car Enamel Shaving Cream Ammonia Refrigerators Golf Balls Toothpaste Gasoline Americans consume petroleum products at a rate of three-and-a-half gallons of oil and more than 250 cubic feet of natural gas per day each! But, as shown here petroleum is not just used for fuel.

A lot of those products are not necessary or can be bought in eco-friendly sustainable brands. You missed the product in which the most oil is used and that is Meat....reducing or eliminating your meat consumption is the most effective way to reduce your carbon footprint.
Of course I realize that many of you don't believe in Climate change..It will be just like with gasoline. In a few years (it's happening now really) you all will be whining OMG why do we have to deal with this extreme weather..OMG food prices have gone through the roof..Who could have known : : OMG tornados OMG rising water...The republican's obstruction on doing anything about clean energy or climate change will hurt everyone not just the fools who didn't know what was happening. Can't blame people for resenting the damage that the republicans/conservatives have created now and most assuredly in the future. Best thing you can do about gas prices is to contact your reps in congress and ask them to support clean energy and to eliminate the subsidies for Big oil. And of course to use less your self. It's not rocket science to plan for the future and I think everyone has a responsibility to be informed. -
Obama appears to have been seriously deprived of oxygen at some point in his life...today he 'switched gears' (sort of) and signed for a part of the keystone pipeline to be built...Problem is it's a piece that's not connected with the source...The idea was that we would be receiving oil from Canada via a pipeline that stretches from Canada right down to the Gulf coast....so what did he decide on? To build a piece from Oklahoma down to the Gulf coast, thus not connected us to Canada's oil source in any way or fashion...And then went on to use his childish (actually more so at the level of the mentally challenged) comments about those who want oil being part of some 'flat earth society' (yes, the same idiotic 'joke' he made several times now...LOL)

LOL - I wonder why...maybe because the lying 'policial scientists' behind it were caught red handed lying and making up 'facts'...and that polar bears are thriving today and the ice cap is larger, not smaller than it was any anytime in recent times (since it was 'measurable') And this garbage is taking money from your pockets and costing jobs:
Btw - it's an important side bar with the woman siding with 'global warming' saying how many 'green jobs' will be created, especially in of the recent failures of Obama's 'green investments' and the jobs lost there Also her 'rogue regime' comments are funny in light of the fact that our president is begging the Arab nations to 'please' produce more oil... -
Imazing...couldn't have asked for a better example to prove my statement above re the misinformation and benightedness of republican/conservatives

That part pisses me off. They clearly knew they were lying and continued to do so in their own greed and self interest. Who cares if millions of people get screwed - lose their jobs or pay more for anything called "green." I will do what I can to keep things clean and sometimes better than I found them ..... but to be forced to do some things in the name of some who lied to get their funding - that is wrong wrong wrong. I would rather see the President take the equivalent tax money that he spent on failed "Green" companies - basically trying to pick winners and losers .... I would rather see him bet the money at a casino or on some horse race .... at least the odds would probably be better and we the people could cheer his horse pick on .... or his casino bet on to win.
