As for Memorial Day, being born on May 30 (traditional Memorial Day) I always thought of it as a celebration of my birth and was spoiled by the day off school and parades in my honor.
It was disappointing when it became a Monday holiday.
I feel your pain. I was born on Thanksgiving.
My Dad was born on Xmas eve...that's bad too. We always celebrated his birthday along with Christmas.
But then his birthday is always on Christmas Eve. Ours aren't always on the holiday.

Cheers To Our Servants In Blue...
"Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week is an observance in the United States that pays tribute to the local, state, and Federal peace officers who have died, or who have been disabled, in the line of duty. The Memorial takes place on May 15, and Police Week is the calendar week in which the Memorial falls."

It is that time of year again. My Grandchildren's Father's are both in Law Enforcement. One a Sergeant/Detective and the other a Federal Police Officer turned DOT Officer. My oldest 3 Grandkid's Dad had a round go a foot over his head in a shoot out, broke his leg in a foot pursuit and has done some heart wrenching Detective work.
Thank You for your service!

I agree. We should honor all of our public servants who serve the public year around.

As the web site of the Iowa National Guard explains, the below-displayed photograph of a “human Statue of Liberty,” formed by 18,000 posed soldiers, was taken in July 1918 at Camp Dodge, Iowa, as part of a planned promotional campaign to sell war bonds during World War I.
