Do you have a laptop? What kind and do you like it?
-
Well, after resisting getting a laptop for eons, I've taken the plunge and ordered a MacBook Pro, the latest, and now have discovered I have to get a larger (and much more expensive) bag to carry it in. Not to mention, everyone says I need a sleeve, as well. The kind I thought would be most suited to my needs is the bulletproof one. Black. Sturdy. Yes, I'm pretty clumsy. The nice sales guy at the Apple store said men usually get that one. I said I know, but if anything can be dropped.....you get the picture
At first, I was going to get an iPad, but then needed a laptop, too, so somehow decided on the MacBook. It will do everything an iPad will do and more AND I'm thinking about streaming movies through Netflicks. I mean, not very often, but I COULD if the need presented itself. Anybody else have a laptop that you really like? If you do, what kind and what do you mostly use yours for?

It's scary how much a machine can mean to you, I have an LG PX3, got it 3,5 years ago and I hope it will survive a few more years. The size is just perfect for taking it with you, 13,3" screen but the keyboard is still big enough to type comfortably and I've typed A LOT on it. Never experienced any problems and it's not the laptop's fault it's got VISTA installed... Anyway the choice of your laptop should depend on what you want to use it for. Writing, watching movies, being on the maccaboard,...

I have an HP Pavilion dv6t I got in 2010. It has a 15.6 " screen. OS is Windows 7 Home Premium and I like it a lot. (it cost $630 but I'm sure would be much cheaper today)

AbbyRoadCrosser, did you have a mac before or was it your first mac. I hope I learn quickly. Have always used the PC. Mrs. Pepper, is VISTA a bad thing? Nancy, sounds like you got a nice one with a big screen. I thought the prices were going down, too, but not for what I wanted. I'm wondering if I got way too much, but hopefully not. I think I'll enjoy it.

This was my first Mac, it takes a day or two to learn the ropes, much better computer than a PC IMO.

I'd say there are better operating systems...

I love my Dell Inspirion. I've had it about 18 months now. Cost a little over $300. Windows 7. Very happy. I can't justify the cost of a Mac.

I have MacBook and Hp and the last one is new. I love my mac so I don't use the Hp.

MacBook Pro.
Funny, I just spent the weekend with some friends in Chicago and my best friend's daughter had one in our room. She loves hers, too. Wish mine would GET here
I DID decide I probably DON'T need the keyboard protector and the one year education thing. That'll put some $$$ back on the 'ole credit card.

It's an ACER, with Windows 7 on it. Of course I bought on the payments plan--for the next 6 mths!
But it's all mine! Man is it EVER different from my old cluncker!!!!
But I'll get used to it!

Been a PC guy for years, they've been loud machines and have often crashed. Made the switch to a Mac mini about a year ago, and haven't looked back. Using Logic Pro, it's the best music software i've ever used.

What kind of speakers do you need for that to sound good?
