Will there ever be a "normal" tour?

Well, time´s not on Pauls side but I was thinking about it, will there ever be a normal tour for a new record. What I mean is, not THAT much Hits/Beatles stuff. Like in the 70s, a bunch of Beatles tracks and that´s it. I think the Beatles content exploded with the new world tour and still is on a high level. I think it would be interesting to have about 50 percent of Pauls tracks solo/wings 25 of beatles and 25 the new album. whaddathink...

This has already been discussed ad nauseum in other threads. History shows this will not happen, but you never know. Paul has a new CD coming out. Even still, in the last 20 years or so, touring to promote a new CD meant about 5 new songs, and the rest of the set kind of how it is now.

It will never be like it used to when albums and/or cd's were the bulk of the income. Times have changed the money now days is made by touring due to the advent of itunes and other digital music and the fact that the artists loose a lot of money due to pirating. Now it is just just the opposite as it used to be back when the tour promoted the release and sales of a new record, now the record is used to promote the tour.

There's always a chance that Paul's new album could do as well as Adele's last album or even Justin Timberlake's current album. The consensus is that Paul is in high-perfectionist mode with this new one, and I'm preparing to be blown away -- but I think the media are going to be all over it, too. If it's a large seller, his subsequent concerts could possibly reflect that. And that would be quite refreshing.

I think the tours supporting FITD and OTG he did about 6 songs from each record, can't imagine he would every do any more than that now. That being said, that would be like a breathe of fresh air compared to his recent set lists that while have changes are still Beatle heavy.

He has been known to do things like that. Still, recent tour patterns show McCartney not taking too long of a break, maybe two months.

6 songs would be a miracle.

Guys, I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but I think McCartney could make the album of his life, and it still wouldn't get the credit it deserves! The powers that be, or whoever just won't give McCartney that kind of credit? Some let their personal feelings about McCartney get in the way of giving any of his new music a fair chance. You all have heard or read a lot of the nonsense that follows McCartney around, no matter how good his album may be, do you think people are going to really give him an unbiased open minded chance? I doubt it. Also McCartney is a throw back, he doesn't produce the kind of music that is mainstream popular these days. McCartney is from the old school of rock and rollers most of them aren't making the kind of music Adele and Justin Timberlake make. I'd absolutely love to be completely wrong, but McCartney's albums have too much variety and different styles, and they don't fit into todays popular mainstream mode.

If you think that's being a throwback ok but comparing Paul's ultimate success with temporary interests like Adele or Justin Timberlake is just a flawed perspective

But it doesn't change the fact that artists like McCartney, the Stones, Bowie, etc. just don't sell new music anymore. I am not knocking them, it's just reality. Paul's new CD will be very good. And loved here. And even given great reviews. But likely, it won't sell like his LPs used to.

But that is you expressing an opinion versus how McCartney is perceived in the market place. Still, I remember when Santana's career was pretty much drifting, then he hit hard with SUPERNATURAL and that breathed new life into his career. That could happen with McCartney. I am not counting Paul out, just saying there are some obstacles. One is that he has a VERY successful career right now touring and playing Beatles songs.
