There was rumour they were going after Robert Carlisle but as much as I think he's a fantastic actor, I can't see him as Dr Who ?
I like Robert too, but it may be too mainstream for him, however Christopher did it for one season so there is hope.

Robert Carlyle would be a good choice but I'd like to see somebody with an eccentric side to them and a twinkle in their eye. Perhaps Michael Palin.....I know he's not the right age, but actually if you remember William Hartnell...I'm also quite happy if they change lead actors every two series, as long as the writing is great Dr Who should run and run.

Hiya, Is it true from what I've been reading that John Simm (aka Sam Tyler from "Life on Mars") is going to be cast as the Master?! They are bringing The Master back, finally? This from Wikipedia on John SImm: "In February 2007, it was reported that Simm is to appear in the forthcoming third series of the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who, in the role of the Master, the Doctor's evil nemesis. The casting has yet to be confirmed by the BBC, and Simm himself neither confirmed nor denied such claims on BBC 6 Music in a February 13, 2007 interview. On February 21 Simm was seen in the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff playing the newly elected British Prime Minister Mr. Saxon, in scenes being shot for the final two episodes of the 2007 series of Doctor Who."
How similar their jackets look? So, will the Master be regenerated from his incarnation from the 1996 Fox tv movie to John Simm?  or will The Master regenerate from the Anthony Ainley Master?  -
It will be interesting bringing the Master back
I know I've read recently that Hugh Grant maybe will have a role as an evil something or other ? -
Someone on another message board said that Anthony Ainley passed away 5 years ago so it wouldn't be possibly for him to regenerate from him and I hope they don't bring Eric Roberts back because I never did like his portrayal of the Master... Dean

Happy Dance time! Dr Who return to BBC 1 this Saturday at 19.00 hrs. New companion Freema Agyeman will play the Doctor's latest companion, Martha Jones. Can't wait. Popping out buy stacks of video tapes............ Martin

Yeah. I have a very exciting weekend planned. I'm seeing the Kaiser Chiefs on Friday night at the Albert Hall and The Who on Saturday. I've never done two nights in a row before.

Doctor Who and the Beatles
A clip from the 1965 episode 'The Chase' where the Doctor, Ian, Barbara and Vicki watch the Beatles play 'Ticket to Ride' on the Time/Space Visualiser. The original idea for the Beatles segment was to depict the band performing at a fiftieth-anniversary concert, with the Fab Four dressed up as old men. It appears that the musicians themselves were interested in the proposition, but it was vetoed by their manager, Brian Epstein. Subsequently, it was thought that an appearance by the Beatles on Top Of The Pops might be used instead, but no footage was available as most editions of the programme were destroyed after broadcast. A November 1964 recording of "I Feel Fine" was then considered. In the event, however, footage of the band performing "Ticket To Ride" at Riverside Studios on April 10th was made available to Martin's team. The Beatles had a guest appearance on Doctor Who in 1965 -- singing "Ticket to Ride." Afterwards, a traveller from the future remarks that she's heard of the Beatles, having visited their memorial in Liverpool, but that she didn't realize that the Beatles also performed "classical music." This is black-and-white Doctor Who comedy gold. The original recording of that particular Beatles performance has been lost along with a lot of the BBC library which was tragically thrown out in a great video tape purge in the 1970s. That Doctor Who footage is now the only visual record of that performance. -

I loved the oblique reference to her "cousin" Adeola who worked at Canary Wharf at Torchwood to fill in the dots and dashes for those that recall her previous appearance in Dr Who. She got the Cyberman treatment at that time.

Still no word on Series 3 airing in the U.S., but Torchwood will be broadcast on BBC America.

Just watched the episode on BBC Three (I explained earlier why I couldn't watch it last Saturday), great episode. Lets hope it continues to be great.
