Doctor Who

Triplets Love Paul:
Hard to believe that next week's episode is the last until the Christmas Special......
Indeed, pre-show publicity for tonight's show, which is billed as the season finale:
The Doctor's heart-breaking farewell to Amy and Rory - a race against time through the streets of Manhattan, as New York's statues come to life around them...
Mixing the Weeping Angels with an emotional farewell to two favourite characters seems like a very explosive cocktail.... Martin

Alright, I thought the Weeping Angels are an alien race. How and when did the Statue of Liberty become an alien? Or cherub statues? Or any other statue for that matter? Just thought it was those particular Weeping Angels statues that could move and touch people? Not other statues. How could the SofL have walked from Ellis Island and gone unnoticed in NYC without causing a panic and disruption? How did one Weeping Angel survive after they caused a paradox when it zapped Rory? I thought they were ineffective in daylight. How was that possible? And, how were the Weeping Angels able to zap people through holographic or tv images of themselves from the last episode they appeared in? Did the Weeping Angels do somekind of time distortion that didn't allow the TARDIS to re-materialize in 1938 NYC? And, why can't the Doctor go back to 1938 to see Amy and Rory in the TARDIS? For that matter, why couldn't he bring them back to the present, or anyone else who had been zapped to the past to their present timeline in the TARDIS?

The whole point of the story-line seems to have been to set up a scenario where Rory and Amy might live "happily ever after" but be inaccessible to the Doctor. This story-line mirrored the final episodes of Rose Tyler with her finally being inaccessible to The Doctor in an alternate parallel universe. Great care was taken to demonstrate how difficult it was to travel to this period due to the time travel activities of The Weeping Angels before we became aware that the period was to become the final home of Rory and Amy. I've been trying to recall if any significant age difference between Rory and Amy existed and if there might be significance that Amy out-lived Rory by five years if they were of the same age. The bottom line being the actors and script-writers have decided it's time to move onto new characters, so a suitable write-out had to be devised.
or on the official BBC web-page: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00z4cw2 Cue more tears....And, while I was moved to a tear or two, I think this was indeed a fitting ending to the Amy and Rory story. Martin PS the BBC has now released an 11 minute "Confidential" style featurette on Karen and Arthur's time with the programme:

Caught up here! It was great, but a bit confusing at the end (like how she's alive)

Again that's the mystery they've set up to carry us forward to the next series. He's met her twice, she's died twice, but Doctor Who is convinced she remains alive and sets out to find her again - and from the snippet at the end that faith is certainly well-founded - esp since here in the UK, at least, we got a next series trail immediately afterwards simply peppered with clips of her
It seems to be the mystery that lifts him from the negative doldrums we find him in at the outset of the Christmas Special. Interesting development of Madame Vastra and her "partner" Jenny and their alien servant Strax as the real origin of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries - possibly a potential spin-off series? (they did briefly appear in June 2011 in A Good Man Goes To War). Needs watching again... Martin

I agree. And you know that they showed it the same night as in the U.K.? (Christmas night) And they also showed previews at the end.
