Alan Rickman (1946-2016)
-
Alan Rickman, one of the best-loved and most warmly admired British actors of the past 30 years, has died in London aged 69. His death was confirmed on Thursday by his family who said that he died ?surrounded by family and friends?. Rickman had been suffering from cancer. A star whose arch features and languid diction were recognisable across the generations. The actor had been a big-screen staple since first shooting to global acclaim in 1988, when he starred as Hans Gruber, Bruce Willis?s sardonic, dastardly adversary in Die Hard ? a part he was offered two days after arriving in Los Angeles, aged 41. "Sense and Sensibility" is one of my favorite movies of his. Very sensitive and nuanced performance. Also "Truly Madly Deeply." He was great in everything he did, though. Never disappointed

Love his yummy British voice!! So sad to see that he died! He was an amazing actor, although I really didn't like him in a Robin Hood!! He was so believable... You were just waiting for Robin to come and rescue Maid Marion!! What a scene that was too!

Alan Rickman was a great actor and handsome. And yes that accent. So sad he passed.

I thought he was great in Die Hard.

The first I saw of Alan Rickman was in one of my favorite films, Sense and Sensibility. I fell in LOVE with him right then and there! I will never stop loving his beautifully distinctive voice! Yesterday, we watched Die Hard, endlessly discussing the amazing versatility of this gifted actor. We compared notes on Rickman's various performances, of course chatting in depth of his role in the Harry Potter films which are so very dear to our family. A great loss - we will miss Alan Rickman! Our thoughts and prayers have been and remain with Rickman's family and friends!
