President Obama 50th Anniversary Civil Rights March!

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights March in Selma, Alabama. I have seen a very coveted piece of history in the Dallas County Probate Judges office. It is the antique sofa which once belonged to Edmund Pettus. The same man the bridge was named after. Probate Judge Kim Ballard would probably be more than happy to donate it to a worthy cause or maybe even a gift to The White House itself. Maybe President Obama can ask for it while he is there? It is very nice. Peace and Love!

I'll bet that was profound to see and think about. My ancestors on my mother's side played a part in the underground railroad, helping slaves escape to freedom, in the 1800's.

My grand parents lived in Selma, Alabama along with some extended family. I spent time there throughout my life walking around the town, playing on the Bridge, on the river banks of the Alabama River. Later, I came to meet people in political office there and that is how I saw the Pettus sofa. I also learned many secrets of the place. Things I didn't find to resonate with me. I did not realize though Edmund Pettus was a KKK Grand Wizard back then. I feel as if that sofa was moved to another location maybe the bad vibes it must carry due to its history could be made good vibes, and preserved for history.

Peace and Love 4 ALL! P.S. The economic conditon of Selma has gone horribly wrong in the last few decades. There used to be an Air Force base called Craig Field just across the bridge going out of town. It closed sometime in late nineteen sixties or early seventies. -
The CNN broadcast locked up and freeze framed here at the very last of The President's Speech for a few minutes, so I missed the end of it. The last 7 words I heard were..."Those who believe in the Lord will..." Curiously...I had just gotten up to look for a coin I had that bears the image of a name that had just been mentioned. The celebration of the 50th Anniversay of Civil Rights March continues today. Good to see the diversity of the crowd. One thing: where President Obama's motorcade stopped when he came over the bridge, where the white tents were set up. Did you all who watched notice the symbol on the building right above one of the tents, in clear view for all to see? It was the Freemasonry symbol. That is because his tents were set up right by where the Freemason Lodge is located in Selma, Alabama. My grandmothers home was just one block away on Arsenal Place where the Confederate Army had its weapons depot. Thought the Freemason symbol was so interesting. Also I was disappointed that President G. W. Bush did not get a chance to speak, as time was short. Oh, and I really loved the speech by Rep. John Lewis who marched 50 years ago.
