Anyone on this Board Living in Maine?
-
Just wondering if there are any boardies here that live in Maine. If so, do any of you live in the more rural areas and how do you manage being so far from big stores? Appreciate your input.

I think they use pack mules and helicopters.

Sounds good to me, it's so hot here
Are you near the ocean, at all? I know what you mean. Sometimes you want to go to a big mall, and such. Don't mean to speak for you but I imagine that's sort of your meaning.

No we don't live near the ocean. It's a good 1-2 hours drive. Just curious about what it's like for those who live in the more rural areas of Maine. Did some research & houses & property taxes are so much less expensive in some parts of Maine.

Are you liking life in Maine? Beautiful place, I've heard. And seen pix. (Stephen King likes it there!)

And the winters can be brutal - how far up the State do you now live?

Right now we live in PA & we've had some nasty winters too. We're going to retire in Sept. 2016 & my DH is giving some serious thoughts to moving to Maine in 1 1/2 years. He wants to raise & board horses, board cats & dogs, get some snowmobiles, a go-kart, a small boat, 2-3 more dogs, barn cats (all will be spayed/neutered) & possibly some chickens.
