***NEWS FLASH*** Aliens have mysteriously turned off the computer of NASA's New Horizons spacecraft which was slated to photograph Pluto. NASA is scrambling to turn it back on after its 3 million mile, 9 year journey....

Here's a current official explanation of what's been going on. It was a little computer overload problem when we sent to much info at one time. It's ok now. Check @ 2:55

Also glad you posted this I saw some blurry looking pictures of Pluto and I was going to try and post them here. Then I saw this and it covered the same pictures. I also knew Pluto as one of the planets in our solar system and still think of it as a planet.

Amazing the speed on that Atlas! 9 hours to the moon! To Infinity and beyond!! Was looking at the TV ads for this, on the SCI channel! Wednesday! http://space.io9.com/new-horizons-offers-tantalizing-hints-of-craters-and-ch-1717423800 there's even a polygon shaped crater... That seems unusual

There was an interesting discussion last night on television with Neil DeGrasse Tyson about whether Pluto could be considered a planet or not. He said that Pluto crosses the orbit of Uranus at one point and said that it is not something that a planet would do. If you study the word root of planet, you'll find that it means "wanderer". This made me think that Pluto, by virtue of this definition, may be the only actual planet in our solar system. Another curious thought on these lines is the idea that Jupiter is actually an "unborn" star, so should it be thought of as a planet or something else? Cool recent video on New Horizon's mission.

A ❤ for Pluto http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html Or maybe it is Pluto the dog, as in Sur Stevens video http://2.media.dorkly.cvcdn.com/95/95/0986555959e76b218e7c4d1b160955fb.jpg

This Pluto thing is kind of amazing, so I tuned to CNN to get some information. They were talking about Greece. A few hours later, I went back to see if there was anything about Pluto. They were talking about Greece. The next day, I checked with CNN. Surely there must be something about Pluto. This is kind of a big deal. They were talking about Greece.

Clyde was a Kansas born amateur astronomer. I watched a segment on him the other night. He almost froze his hands in the observatory while searching the heavens. "Rewind to 1930, and Pluto wasn't even on the solar system map. Tombaugh, who grew up on a farm in Kansas, was working at Lowell Observatory in Arizona. Previously an amateur astronomer, he had been hired to help find a planet beyond Neptune." He was able to go to college after the discovery.

A nice way to get to college I hope he knew he would get a much closer view after he died... How apropos! It's a cold profession, it snowed last night, in July, on Mauna Kea! I hear you have to stop and rest at 9,000 ft to get acclimated to the thin air... Hope to get up there some day, it's a great view They have a new app too! http://www.keckobservatory.org/images/gallery/summit/MW-Keck-Summit.jpg

They are really cool. Jerry Ross, the most flown astronaut has quite a few! I'm thinking of reading his book. It sounds interesting! I know you posted something a while back about the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter thought you might like this photo which if you click a few times, really shows the 4 Galilean moons of Jupiter1 a really great photo! http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/image/1507/VenusandJupiterareClose_WangLetian.jpg
