How Does Your Garden Grow?
-
Well I made chili last week with the last of our home grown tomatoes. mmmm Now we just planted about 12 little tomato plants. All different varieties so we will get tomatoes at different times. Can't wait for a ripe one!
-
varigated ajuga...I don't have this one...mine is just the purpley rusty colored leaves.
-
Ok. I remember this thread, now. LOL!!! Yes, I must get some ajugas to plant. Honestly, I have already done so much yard work, and I'm not halfway done. Yikes!!!! Wow, Oobu. those are nice, too.

GYPSYGIRL:
My husband finally planted 2 blueberry bushes, a red hydrangea & a dragon tree (from the pine tree family) today.
I hope they do well. Last summer, I had a high school student dig up all of my blueberry bushes and got rid of them. They died during the drought two years ago. Sigh. Hope yours do better.

I've been adding to my hosta collection lately. oops too big... http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2JdgvDupzUs/TDZtlNAaINI/AAAAAAAAAWc/nDX1K4IIxBA/s1600/Hosta+'Queen+Josephine'.JPG http://images.mooseyscountrygarden.com/garden-plants/hosta-plant-gallery/hosta-variegated-spring.jpg

Those are lovely!!!! Again, I HAD about 20 of those, but they died during the drought. Have got about 6 or 7 now. Am going to transplant them all to the front of the house. Yours look lovely and healthy. What's your secret????
-
Those aren't mine! I just googled them!!!!

I did take some pics with a new camera that I bought for the Paul show but it would take me forever to post them here. We had a landscaper put in a bunch of giant everygreens to block the darn neighbor last year & he also put in a few grasses. This year they are getting larger. They are striped. I should get a pic of those & post them. Yeah...one of these days. Gotta run out for awhile...be back in an hour or so.
-
Haha. Well, I'm sure yours will look just as lovely. I DID have about 5 different varieties of hostas, but after two summers of not working much in the yard, all died except the ones you posted. So, I think they are pretty hardy.

Assessing the work needed to start a garden at the new house... Lots of work! Driving past my two other gardens, they look nice, especially the iris and peonies

I just planted some Lilac Boomerangs ..... they are suppose to bloom .... then are quiet .... then re-bloom in the summer or early fall .... almost like a longer lilac ..... and they are smaller .... up to 4-5 feet at most. With all the rain .... so far they look okay.
Quoting myself ..... these came in beautifully The best that I have ever seen them to this time .....
-
^ I never heard of those. I wish most things would bloom for a longer time. I bought some geraniums & they are called Ringo Salmon. Last year I had red ones & they were also Ringo's.
-
Love2, sounds lovely indeed New houses are a lot of work. Hang in there Fool, I LOVE lilacs. So glad yours are doing so well We have a couple different varieties, too.

Multiple blooming lilac's? Wow that sounds too good to be true! Are they really fragrant? Sounds like something I would love. I like to gather big bunches in a large vase to fill the house with that great fragrance. When they get really high, as they do, you have to get a step stool to cut them and miss the ones at the top! 5 foot sounds really manageable.

Thanks so much oobu! Every spring, I also find that for a couple of weeks, there is some tree that blooms with the most wonderful smell. This just happened a few weeks back. Does anyone know the name of that tree? I need to get one of those too!
-
At this rate, it's going to take me another week to get the ground cover, staples and mulch down around our bushes. Yow!
-
I've got rid of my bush again

I just discovered a new lilac sprout when cutting the undergrowth. Am transplanting it to an area I had planned to buy a bush for. Now, I've got something better than what I had in mind. Love, love, love lilacs

Still looking for more bushes to use for privacy next to the patio.
