I now have a Rubber Soul replacement and a Yesterday and Today album--the beginning of my Beatles' collection reconfigured on vinyl. I am looking at these for a possible turntable. Any suggestions for a better one in an affordable range? I have a Smart TV and the Audio Technica has a pre-amp built in that can plug in with no trouble. Both will require a stereo RCA cable. http://www.frys.com/product/8409338#detailed or http://www.frys.com/product/8123815?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG Anyone have any experience with either of these turntables?

I'm sure some of us still play our vinyl collection. Mine was stolen in college. My husband has bought me two Beatles' albums at a local old-records store. I appreciate the sentiment, but gave away my stereo system years ago. The speakers were exceptionally high in quality, as was the entire system. After checking around, I'm not sure what to get to play them on short of spending thousands of dollars. Also, when I looked at turn tables, nothing was said about speakers. Any affordable quality system suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My turntable, which I purchased in the mid '70's, is by Technics. (it still works!) My speakers are Polk Audio. I have no idea if this two companies are even still in business.

Mine is a Crosby turntable that also has a radio, tape deck, and cd player with built in speakers. Not fancy but it does the job and sound isn't too bad.

I'd like to help, but I have not looked or bought one in a long time. When I did last it was a combo turn table, cassette and Tuner ... Then the needle needed to be replaced and I never did up to this very day. I once had a BIC belt driven balanced arm etc.... All good stuff about it... Now I have graduated backwards to whatever plays 'em. I would spin the turntable backwards for the messages of course... Which probably ruined it ... As I used it Until I started buying tapes or CD's.. Now product lifecycles are so much quicker.

How often do any of you play your vinyl? My husband bought a $20 turntable that I didn't use. Then, last week he said it died.

About once a month, depending on what I'm in the mood to listen to.

The thing is, almost no one buys turntables these days. I'm on the fence about how much money I want to spend, but leaning towards keeping an eye on the Audio-Technica AT-LP120. Then, what to use for speakers ... maybe hook up to the Boise. Fool, funny about messing up your needle arm playing backwards. I wonder how many people did the same thing? Probably a lot!

I did it on our stereo system back home in Ohio and didn't mess it up. My dad still used it up until the mid-2000's when it stopped working (wasn't a problem with the needle) And the stereo (in big cabinet--remember those?) was purchased in about 1968 or so!

I know if I still had my albums they would still be as good as they could be after all these years. The ones my husband is buying me, the covers aren't in good shape. I'm just hoping the albums play better than the covers look.

I have a Denon turntable with Infinity speakers. When my SAE pre-amp & tuner went, I got a Marantz .
