Well as promised, Susy...these are some of the TOILE fabrics I use to make my Teddy Bears that we spoke about. It lends such an old-fashioned and romantic look that I just adore. The RED Toile' fabric featured first up on the page, in addition to the BEARS, I have designed and sewn a fitted slipcover for my Wing Chair and Ottoman aswell, to match. Also, my living room curtains are in a complimentary BLUE TOILE' pattern---both colors are great color contrast and keep the continuity of the Romantic feel throughout the room. I just love snuggling up with my amply cushioned, soft twin Toile pillows to match aswell...they just tie everything together, and put the look right over the top! Here's the page: http://www.quiltersmuse.com/toile.htm

The Toile fabrics are just lovely, Claudie, some are gorgeous as is the handmade birdhouse you exhibited. It must be wonderful to be so good with your hands, at arts and crafts, and sewing. To decorate your house with things you designed and made yourself. You've an eye and feel for textures and colors, obviously. A style I admire is eclectic "shabby chic" with different art objects and pieces of furniture jumbled together in an eclectic mix, some of the things discovered in offbeat thrift stores and flea markets, yard sales, etc. where the sellers didn't realize what it was they were selling. Like stuff you see on "Antiques Road Show" shown on educational t.v. stations. I collect books and movies.

I also like "shabby chic". It's getting harder & harder to find great deals at flea markets & yard sales as most peeps have either realized that "grandma's" stuff isn't junk after all. My dream is to one day own an antique teddy bear in mint condition. I don't know what it will be, it will "talk" to me when I find it.
-
I appreciate beautiful objects, but I still don't consider myself materialistic. It's repulsive to me to see very wealthy people showing off their priceless stuff as if gloating over it, as if "things" are so important Ugh

Underground 60s vinyls.
-
Books Anything even closely linked to Theodore Roosevelt or other presidents of the US. Pins Other junk

Sorry Suze..I just saw this now. Thanks for the kind words ..I do so enjoy creating beautiful things...its' so very rewarding, the creative process that is, and it honestly gives me a real zest for living. I always like to have some project going on to keep the creative juices flowing. I'm quite familiar with the "SHABBY CHIC" style you spoke about...I aspire to it aswell, and I adore antiques meself. I have one piece I'm especially fond of...it's an oak seated coat rack and it absolutely charming...I have a pair of antique Ladies boots hanging from one of the hooks and it give such a charming character to the piece. Anyway, I'm sure you have a lovely place of your own decorated in your own unique style.

I collect for the sheer joy of collecting. We're not the kind of very wealthy snooby peeps that collect just to show off. Our antique furniture is meant to be used & enjoyed. I once worked with someone whose folks had a white velvet sofa with red velvet cushions & the only time anyone was allowed in the room was on Xmas to admire how nice their Xmas tree looked with their furniture. They should have just put up a velvet rope & made a museum out of the room.
