Aside from the 5 shows last November, Paul has had almost a year off. It took me all of 5 minutes to learn "Listen To What The Man Said" yesterday. Paul and the band could learn 10 new songs in a week, getting them up to performance standard. Sounds like this is a complete overhaul and many Wings songs are finally getting their time to shine. There never could be a better moment than this one. Hopefully this won't be the last tour.
My word choice was incorrect or not good. I did not mean to say last tour, I meant maybe this is it, the major change in the tour everyone is wanting and waiting for.

I wonder if the challenge for new, fresh song lists is time between shows/tours. In 1989, it was stunning when Paul came out and did the songs he did! Then, three years later, in 1993, he did a LOT of songs never heard before and a new album to promote. We had a nine year wait for a new CD and more never heard live before. That was 2002. Three years later, in the USA, Paul had a NEW tour with NEW staging in 2005. Starting in 2009 was when things started to "settle in" with a few shows here and there, adding some, taking out some, which to be fair Paul has done. But it is so less evident because he really has been touring ever since, changing things here and there. Imagine if he toured in 2009, then waited until now, it would be easier for him to have a radically new set list and stage. Maybe this is it. Maybe this stage WILL be different. As far as set lists, I think ten new songs is being optimistic.
I believe that in 1989 and 1993 McCartney was still trying to be a "relevant" artist and actually maybe hit the charts again. Due to this, I think he was really into promoting his new record live. I don't remember the exact quote but when asked why he was opening with "Figure of Eight" for his 1989 tour, McCartney basically said he wanted to show people he still had something new to offer the audience. IMO - the Beatle heavy setlist has become a ego thing. McCartney knows he will get a huge reaction to any Beatle number. He is no longer into "challenging" his audience with many songs post Beatle/Wings career. Yes, I truly understand that McCartney wants to give the majority of the crowd the songs they came to hear, especially with the ticket prices he charges. That still does not mean that he could not do a 66% Beatle show and radically mix up the other 33%. I think fans like myself are just asking for some different songs in that 33% part of show. As for learning new songs to add to setlist, it is hard to imagine that McCartney and his band could not learn them really quickly. I don't think slotting the new songs to make the concert have a good pace would be that difficult either.

I would very much welcome 'Listen To What The Man Said'..... I just don't know if I can handle synthesized sax work by Wix..... might be too jarring! Same with 'Silly Love Songs'.
Well maybe they'll bring a horn section. If they could afford to do it in 1976 they can afford to do it in 2013.

My first concert was in 2010, so I would love to hear some Beatles songs that were only performed in Brazil during the 1990 & 1993 tours, such as: The Fool On The Hill Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (full song) Can't Buy Me Love We Can Work It Out Michelle Here, There and Everywhere Penny Lane

John- that sounds MUCH more likely!

John- that sounds MUCH more likely!
wonder if the set will stay the same right through or he'll continue doing the song swaps here and there.

I'm curious as to this aspect as well. This wasn't something that started really in his career at all, until the Up and Coming Tour...and even then, the swaps became predictable! Since I'm only seeing one show on this tour, I'd prefer he pick a set and stick to it.

Since 1989, these have been played on every tour that I've attended. Back In The USSR Band On The Run Hey Jude Jet Let It Be Live And Let Die Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Yesterday With the exception of 1993, these songs also made every tour Eleanor Rigby I Saw Her Standing There The End The Long And Winding Road So there's nearly 1/2 of the show right there. My favorite opening was "Hello Goodbye" in 2002.

Same with me for Vienna gig, Paul has a habit of removing the new songs after a while

It freaks me out a little when he starts doing swaps, I wanted to throw something at him when he picked And I Love Her instead of I've Just Seen a Face in Dublin 2010 and I was having nightmares that he was going to play MMT instead of Hello Goodbye in Liverpool 2011!!

I've just seen a face/ And I love her are the two I've heard the most and I'm okay not hearing them again. Would LOVE to hear I'm Looking Through You/ I Will combo again! And of course, some of the more "rarer" ones...Hope of Deliverance...Two of us...Things We Said Today...Michelle
