Ringo has stayed in the States for many, many years. But in the name of the safety of everyone--especially children--I should think anyone is fully entitled to speak up. Most especially **any**one who has lost a loved one to a gun. Don't forget John Lennon who did become an American citizen. was gunned down in New York. This alone gives Paul and Ringo a right to speak; as they both fall into the category of having lost someone to a shooting. You never get over losing someone to murder.

Everyone has the right to say whatever they want, but why would Congress care about a petition signed by foreigners?

This is a very sensitive subject! As the saying goes, Guns don't kill people, its the hands that the guns are in that do the killing! Sure, you can sign a petition for gun control but then everyone else other than the people you want to keep the guns from, will be penalized. If we do get gun control, the criminals will still be able to buy guns in the underground! Do you really think that criminals are going to buy guns in a gun shop? The wrong people will be penalized. What do you think? I had two friends shot to death, but I do not want the innocent to not be able to defend themselves against criminals when the time comes. Remember, laws are made to protect criminals, not victims!

It's a global world now. If the U.S. thinks it can convince or chastise another country, then they should expect the same back. Congress still gets to make up it's own mind of course. Consider it feedback on a global scale.

U.S. Bill Of Rights...Amendments 1 & 2 1 Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances 2 A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. regulated definition: regulate: to set or adjust the amount, degree, or rate of infringed definition: act so as to limit or undermine (something); encroach on: "his legal rights were being infringed" THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS SHOULD NOT BE INFRINGED!!! But, where does it imply that the degree of firepower can and should not be conscientiously regulated? I am very glad and thankful that conscientious, law abiding, down to earth and even tempered people can safely use arms. But, allowing it to be easy access for anyone to acquire military grade assault rifles seems extremely excessive and dangerous in this day and age when the most powerful rifle available at the time the Bill of Rights was drawn up was a one shot black powder rifle that took a minute to reload.

I wish no one carried guns either. But in reality Paul, Ringo and Yoko can afford security guards. Do those guards carry weapons? Either way they can afford to "Pay for Protection," whereas the majority of people don't have that luxury and have to defend themselves the best they can.

That's not how the United States works at all. It definitely tells other countries what to do, but no country on this planet or any other can tell the United States what to do. Can you imagine Congress actually listening to people in other countries? They don't even listen to the people in their own country.

I'm not on Facebook, so I don't have all the answers to solve all the world's problems, but this doesn't make any sense to me. Are you saying that since criminals will still commit crimes, why bother making anything illegal?

Well you should be on facebook more often!! There will always be criminals, you need criminals to keep the judicial system in business! What I'm saying is that if there is Gun Control, many of the victims or innocent people will have more restrictions upon them making it more difficult for them to purchase firearms in gun shops or sports department stores. Criminals, in the long run, are not going to waste their time purchasing firearms in the stores! They are either going to steal them or buy them in the underground which are hot (Stolen) firearms!! So let me ask you, who is going to suffer or be penalized the most, the innocent or the criminals?

There have been a record number of guns and ammunition turned in at recent firework amnesty events. So many, that they are going to have them more often. Ps...Criminals often times acquire guns legally? by having (making) other people buy them for them. It should be much harder for people to purchase guns.

That is true SurSteven, criminals do have other people buy firearms for them legally but guess who gets in trouble when someone gets killed by those firearms? The innocent! It's not a very good idea to purchase a firearm for a criminal although it does happen.

Excellent points & I wholeheartedly agree with every one. And Walmart should not be allowed to sell guns & ammo either.
