Keeping Up With Keith ...

March 30, 2012 Current TV Dismisses Keith Olbermann 10:06 p.m. | Updated For nearly a year now, Al Gore and Joel Hyatt have been building their liberal cable news channel, Current TV, with the mercurial television anchorman Keith Olbermann at its center. ... Current said on Friday afternoon that it had fired Mr. Olbermann ... the whole lot http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/03/30/current-tv-dismisses-keith-olbermann/

If you're a confessed member of the left and even your own kind don't like you, you must really be a sucky piece of dead skin

You make being part of the "left" or the "right" sound like being part of a cult, Rich.
It' s okay for folks who identify with either of those political leanings to not always agree with what either side represents, isn't it?

You're right - I should've added 'extreme' since that's who I'm truly referring to (and to further your point, extreme in either direction is dangerous)

Thanks Rich, and I agree with you 100%. I'm definitely a Democrat, and have noticed that you're not (
), but it's the extremists on either side of the political spectrum that seem to cause the most problems.

It will be interesting what Keith's next job offer may be ... I'm sure he's bound to get one or more ...

Maybe back to ESPN - he wasn't so bad when he was only giving out sports scores and results...LOL

He was great on ESPN. Seriously.

Time will tell, it seems doubtful that MSNBC or CNN will make offers - but who knows?

while athletes work their arses off...and sports comment...ers...talk about...and critique them...lol...

OK -- if Al Friggin' Gore can't work with this guy...then God help Keith Olbermann. Seriously, though, I will always respect him for how he did all that he could to aid his father who was dying in the hospital before he finally lost his battle with cancer.

Then, they should have both tried it ...at minimum wage......$7.25 an hour/$15,000 a year ...just to gather a sense of true appreciation...for the true job at hand

They were talking about this on a sports journalism board I frequent. Where does this guy go from here? The two left-leaning networks have dumped him, he burned too many bridges at ESPN (seriously, read "Those Guys Have All the Fun," it's pretty crazy, including his sign on to the inaugural ESPN 2 broadcast, which he begrudgingly agreed to help start up, with "Welcome to the end of my career"), will anyone take a chance? He's buddies with Dan Patrick (another reason ESPN is probably out), would he be able to work with him? Does he cover Yankees games for YES Network? Or does he just become the left's answer to Glenn Beck (if he isn't already) and just go the online route? It's sad that someone so clearly talented (talking more about his broadcasting prowess, not his political beliefs) can be undone by being too much of an arrogant SOB.

The title of this thread just made me LOL

Keith Moon or Keith Richards?

He might have to go the route of radio at this point. I figure if Howard Stern and Don Imus can have radio shows, anyone can, no matter how hard to work with he is.
-
I understand that he has filed a lawsuit against Current TV ... it comes as no surprise
-
And he's got the same lawyer Conan O'Brien had for his NBC legal dispute.
