Extremely surprised a few minutes ago to discover that Royston Ellis had passed away last week. I keep thinking I've not e-mailed him recently. I've been in contact with him since 1960 and spent many years corresponding with e-mails. He invited us to his home in Sri Lanka for a holiday, but we'd made arrangements to go to Mauritius instead. I haven't been e-mailing friends for the last couple of years due to illness, but I was about to get onto Royston again and I am writing about him in a new book I'm working on. These questions now will never be answered, although I can get quite a lot of background from all the e-mails and he let me have several photographs to use. Sad loss of another friend - but it's now getting frightening these days.
