This week 53 non-celebrities died in wildfires that swept through parts of the Hawaiian island of Maui, virtually wiping out the beautiful, historic town of Lahaina.

As of tonight it's in the mid-60s and likely to climb higher, and economically far and away the worst disaster to ever hit Hawaii (tsunamis in 1946 and 1960 killed more). And a lovely, historic town basically wiped off the map. I visited there a few years ago and can barely stand to read the news stories.

What a tragedy! That was an amazing gallery. I’m hoping Shannon is Okay. I can’t get over the shock of all the people lost in Lahaina. It’s beyond all comprehension.
