Anchorage breaks seasonal snowfall record April 8, 2012 _ updated 8:10 AM (CNN) -- While winter is a distant memory for most Americans, it continues unabated in Anchorage, Alaska -- where a new bout of precipitation this weekend helped the city break its record for seasonal snowfall, at more than 133 inches (3.38 meters). ... And with snow continuing to fall into early Sunday morning, the figure promises to get even larger. http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/08/us/alaska-record-snowfall

Alaska is definitely one state I would never want to live in.

Agreed. Here we're having record high temps and low snowfall, and they're under siege by snowflakes. No. Thank. You.

While I was in the Airforce back in the mid 80's, they asked me if I'd like to extend my current enlistment by 18 months (I already had indicated I had no interest in fully re-enlisting) - the catch was that if I chose this option, I'd be sent to Anchorage, Alaska (Elmendorf AFB)...I respectfully declined, basically because I was single back then and didn't view Anchorage as a 'happening town' (gotta have my priorities straight...LOL)...the kicker is that nowadays, I'm an outdoors fanatic and I'd almost kill to go there for a vacation (I still wouldn't want to live there though)

After reading Into The Wild, I'm also dying to visit the area. One of my professors in college spent a few years teaching there, and said he couldn't stand the snow. That's why he moved to Vermont.
