Our Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has become the unwitting butt of a spoof video drawing on a serious attempt to explain why his party, in coalition with the Conservatives broke a strong pre-election pledge not to raise university tuition fees:

Within hours of the original apology going on-line this spoof song was released created from his speech. Nick Clegg has embraced the product and approved it's commercial release through iTunes on condition that profits go to charity: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-19660345

He has requested all profits be given to the Children's Hospital Charity in Sheffield, where he is an MP. Mr Clegg's wife Miriam is a patron of the charity. The charity helps supports children's services across the Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust.

It's gone viral and is trending on Twitter so it seems he's winning all round. Currently at 34 on iTunes in-house sales chart. Can we envisage other politicians jumping on the bandwagon? Willingly or otherwise I suppose the same process might be used to ridicule as well as enhance, indeed it might sound the death knell to this type of straight personal speech to camera as it offers up too many opportunities for this type of satirical reworking. Martin

Wow, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg is kinda cute! I have always wanted to visit the British Parliament, to see what goes on. I have only watched it on tv, and found it so entertaining. Much more interesting than the American Senate/Congress Sessions. That is a very funny video...glad he was such a good sport about it.

This could be an idea for President Obama ..... since he likes to go on apology tours around the world ... except to the U.S. people.

It would have been nice if Bush had apolgised 4 taking us to war for no reason...therefore deleting the US economy and way of life for generations to come. But isn't all of it just a Game and all politicians know they are playing, but the working poor don't have time to notice it is all a Game? And the Rich don't care it is a Game? That is my view on the whole world system of Gov't. Back 2 Nick...he is easy on the eyes.
