It changed because "the powers that be" (as the prez likes to say) wanted it that way. The media, which is bought and paid for by "special interest" (putting it kindly) insisted that it have a liberal bias. Not because their owners are liberal, and they believe in that mindset, but because liberals are easier to control. With their control mechanisms in place they can proceed with their agendas.

TVs may be better now, the resolution & all...but I don't 'get' flat screens. You still need to put the cable box somewhere & the remotes & the audio box (bose system or whatever), maybe a vcr or a DVd recorder or another recording device. So where do you put all that stuff now? I need to go shopping for a new TV so I'm trying to 'get' it. But now you need a shelf under the flat screen.

And...usually we don't have time for see nothing

You're forgetting the REALLY annoying thing - remote controls. Remember those days when all the controls you needed were available on the TV set? Now you need at least 3 different remote controls and unless you can find the right one at the right moment you can't do ANYTHING!! And you spend ages looking under sofa cushions for the one you need to select something off a DVD menu because you can't do that on the actual DVD player.... Put more buttons on the DVD players and TV sets themselves again! PLEASE!!

I just straight up got rid of my tv for that reason! I just watch everything on my idevices or Windows craptop

          What was Oklahama like?

Then or somewhat in a younger part of my past. The school system taugh Home economics. That was taken out of the curriculum and a lot of the skills that particular course is now missing from some lives and it does show. Perhaps if they improved it and brought it back people would have skills like setting up a budget, and such. love doris

Furnaces: better "then." I woke up to a cold house the other morning and learned from my HVAC guy that my new furnace is "self-limiting" meaning it shuts down when the filter needs changing. It took a couple of hours of fiddling to get it running consistently again. Thankfully I passed on the programmable thermostat or I might still be struggling with it. :

The uninformed and uneducated are the easiest to control. Being liberal or conservative has nothing to do with how impressionable someone is on media influence. Both Fox and MSNBC clearly show that their viewers will believe anything they are told.

Perhaps politicians should take this course.

Thats true. I see it at Walmart, especially the ones with a deli. Used to you would shop bring your food home and fix a meal for the family. Now its pick out what you want here and thats fixing dinner. Which costs more in the long run. Home economics actually teaches one to budget for stuff like food and menu planning love doris

So true! Well said. The masses are so gullible, they'll believe just about anything!

I am proud of my great nation for many reasons, one of the greatest being that we have no Walmart.
