Here in the UK Halloween seems to have passed our locality by rather quietly. A combination of the date falling mid-week and poor weather means that we haven't had the usual footfall to our door. Now I have to reluctantly chomp my way through a bucketful of sweets If I can manage it without another dental emergency that is..... My Number One chomping tooth dislodged it's filling recently and I'm only using it gingerly with care. Having spent my life cursing cheap plastic stand mixers breaking, I finally bit another bullet and bought a Kenwood Chef mixer; metal bodied, metal geared and supported by a full service network they're designed to be a life-long purchase - they kind of thing that gets handed down to children - we'll see..... Anyway with Guy Fawkes on the 5th I'm planning a large batch of Parkin - a Northern Gingerbread traditionally associated with Bonfire Night - some for home, some for my wife to take to work and myself to work as well. I went through another $300.00 in candy tonight, its always busy in my neighborhood!

The high was 77 today and it is still 61 now at 11:30 pm. Zero rain today. (Tomorrow will be a different story!) We normally get very few trick-or-treaters, so we decided to leave the outdoor lights off for the first time.

We had about 25 kids here tonight. Just shut the porch light off since I doubt more kids will be coming.
