Do you ROKU?
-
I'm starting to look for a new TV (what do you have??) and I keep coming across this box that is ROKU? Do you roku? Do you have a smart TV?
-
I checked out Roku, but ended up going with the Vizio Co-Star. But only because I wanted/needed a web browser. And also, it works ALONG WITH your tv, as opposed to being one of those "chord cutter" devices. You can search for something and it will show you tv shows, movies, or internet results. Same price. Incidentally, my chrome browser is shot right now, and I have to send the unit back. BUT, I have done a ton of searches and I seem to be the only one who had this issue.

I have this ...... but did not shop around or compare. Someone gave it to me as a gift along with Netflix as part of their gift. Even though I just got a cable get you in the door package .... I do watch Netflix and play catch up with some shows. It seems to work pretty good.

^ And all this time we thought you were out riding your bicycle!

ops: I am getting so confused with all this cr#p. : I guess I should go to Best Buy & see if all the options will work with my cable provider.

Netflix as a subscription service?

In a nutshell there are channel icons / apps that you can load or subscribe to .... there are many ways to customize ..... it would be easier or better if you see one or find a way to compare. The thing is HD ..... so the picture is good (*unless it is an old show that never was HD .... it usually shows up pretty good too). I do not subscribe to any of the other channels .... as I said I have a cable package that is good for now ..... until they go up after the get you in the door goes up ..... then I drop some and make decisions from that point

I wouldn't even be doing this if my TV hadn't died. Just been using a smaller one till we figure out what to do.

I got a Roku with a former ISP. I never could figure out how to hook it up to play anything on the tv, so the Roku sits here.

That is what I am afraid of.

Ro Who?

Maccascruff, you might be over thinking it. The HDMI should go right to your tv, and the Roku (depending on model) is most likely 'wifi only.' Meaning, maybe you're looking for a plug that may not be there. (I did something similar, so I'm not making fun) I did about a year of researc; Apple TV, Google TV, Roku, etc... And the Roku had the best 'programming' but I needed youtube and a browser. - that's the reason I went with the Co-Star. (Guilty pleasure: I watch Excel videos on youtube about 3 times/week.)
-
Well, I finally bought a Roku smart TV. Anyone else? I think I need a tv guide in order to figure out what is on or what is available.
-
I was just discussing this with my sister. Thinking of buying the upgraded ROKU!! I hear they're great, and it might be the one with free PBS? Have to research that first..
-
I did find the the Jerry Seinfeld show called Comedians in Cars or something like that. It was on a channel called Crackle.

Should I say with who? Isn't ROKU a new sex position?
