This glorious kingdom

Hi All, This is my first post in this glorious kingdom. Why I didn't arrive here sooner is beyond me. I have been a fan of Paul McCartney for fifty years...ever since I saw him on the Ed Sullivan Show at age seven. I loved the way his hair moved as he sang. To me he really was "The Cute One". A few years after that I was devastated to learn that Paul had married when he was supposed to wait for ME! How could he??!!! I was so sad, I wanted to jump off my stack of 45's. LOL... I am happy to say that I have seen Paul in concert twice, once in New York City and once in Philly where I saw the triplets on stage dressed in Paul's blue Sgt Pepper outfit....so cute. I will never forget that. I see an admin here with that photo as the avatar so I'm curious about that whole story. Anyway, when I first heard Paul sing "Yesterday" in person in Philly I cried...was wondering if anyone else has ever had that reaction. I think that when you wait for half a century just hearing that song on the radio and then suddenly you see Paul singing it right before your eyes, it's just emotional overload, I don't know how else to explain it. Anyway, my favorite story from seeing Paul in concert is that now when my young interns at work hear me starting to play the live version of "Hey Jude" from NYC I tell them that "this is the song where I'm singing with Paul McCartney". They always say, "WHAAAAT?" I want to share something with you...not sure where to put it but thought some of you might enjoy it. Have never tried this before so be gentle with me. This past weekend I wrote the following and gave it to a friend's son and his wife who are both BIG Beatles fans and who are about to be parents for the first time. They will be having a son named Julian. ________________________________________________ Everything you need to know about how it feels to be a parent of a newborn baby has been addressed by THE BEATLES many times in their various songs. When you've been awake for three nights straight, you would give your right arm for two winks of sleep and you just heard the baby cry again on the fourth night, THE BEATLES know exactly how you feel "It's been a hard day's night and I've been working like a dog. It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log" "And now my life has changed in oh so many ways. My independence seems to vanish in the haze." "Tell me why-y-y-y you cried...." "HELP! I need somebody! HELP! Not just anybody! HELP! You know I need someone! HELP!!!!!" Eventually things will calm down quite a bit and you'll begin to see that this is all a temporary phase of a baby's life. You WILL live through these sleepless nights somehow. THE BEATLES know this "Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry...and I will sing a lullabye-ee" "Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be. Oh, there will be an answer, let it be." "Just the sight of you makes night time bright. Very bright." "Here comes the sun. Do-do-do-do. Here comes the sun... and I say, it's alright." You'll have your sweet baby, Julian... the one you dreamed of for so long, and everything will be right with the world. THE BEATLES share your "waves of joy" too "As we live a life of ease, everyone of us has all we need" "Ooh, then I suddenly see you. Did I tell you I need you? Every single day of my li-i-ife? "I will be there, and everywhere. Here, there and everywhere." "I love you. I love you. I lo-o-ove you. That's all I want to say." _______________________________________ Sorry for the long post. Best wishes ~ Scarlett

Hi Scarlett! Welcome to the message board!
Paul was AMAZING that night in Philly, it was indeed a night to remember!
You will find that most folks here, if not all, have a 'Paul' moment that has made them cry and they typically explain their experience in much the same way that you have. Wonderful to learn that you've had an opportunity to experience such a lovely moment with Paul, thank you for sharing this with all of us here. Hopefully members will reach out and share their precious memories with you.
Congratulations to your friend's son and his wife, they have chosen a lovely name for their little one on the way!
No doubt they will find comfort and amusement from your words whilst they experience the joys of parenthood.
Enjoy the message board!
