I'd love Paul to read just one message from 45 years back

Back in early 1970, at my first job. I first heard "Let It Be". I had lost my mother to Cancer in Dec 1969, when I was just a boy of 17. My mother was Norah Mary, so I thought of her when the song spoke of Mother Mary, and it became THE song for the loss that had such a massive impact on my life for so very long. And it still is THE song. It wasn't till years later that I discovered the song's connection to Paul's loss of his mother ( I have read that she died of Cancer, but another site claimed embolism) when he was an eveb younger 14 year old boy. I just today watched a clip of the tribute to Sir Paul at the Kenneday Centre 2010. When Let It Be was sung, I am pretty sure Paul once again thought of mother Mary. I certainly thought of my mom. If Paul ever get's to read these thoughts, I thank you from my heart for that wonderful song that means so much. (and for all the other songs of course). By chance, my grandfather (mom's dad, was also Liverpool Irish (Monaghan) Catholic, while my dad's family were very Orange McJunkin from Donegal- a fair bit of friction from that union even though it was in Australia - a very long way from Ireland and Liverpool.! Cheers, Peter Mack, Tasmania Australia

Peter, That was such a touching post, I am about in tears! Yes, Paul's mother died of complications from breast cancer (I read an embolism too) when he was only 14. And you knew John's mother was killed (hit by a drunk off-duty policeman) when he was 17? I think the fact that they had this in common brought them even closer together when they were young. There is another thread on here that has a video that uses the song Let It Be in it. I'll try to find it and repost it here.

thanks Nancy - and it only took 45 years to put it in writing! I did know about John losing his mother at the same age as I lost mine. Let it Be was for too many years, a song that when I played it, I just became sad. But fortunately I have moved forward and now I can play it and really enjoy it, while still having a reminisce. And I would like to see that video if you can find it, yes please. cheers

Found it in the Yesterday forum:
Keep watching--it goes into the Beatles version after a bit. -
thanks so much for that Nancy it's an amazing bit of footage - very moving, and interesting seeing what I recognised ie Roger Daltry smashing the guitar was easy as was Hendrix at Woodstock. cheers again Peter mack

I think that was Pete Townshend smashing the guitar, but I could be wrong!

Of Course it was Pete Townsend, not Roger daltry- who was singer not guitarist - it was seniors memory moment on my part. And it really was a good clip, so thanks again
