Can any of you fellow fans tell me how to send a personal message to Mr. McCartney? My favorite song is "Hey Jude". There was only one radio station in Vietnam,AFVN. They played a wide range of music. However, each night at 8:00 p.m., they would play the current most popular song. We lived to hear that tune each night. If we were in the field, we had to turn off our radio as soon as it ended so as not to betray our position. There was total silence when it played, none of us wanted to miss a single note of that song which seemed to match the way we too were feeling. We were scared alot as it grew dark but we always tuned in to hear "Hey Jude" I will always remember the faces of my fellow Marines as we listened. I just want to finally say thanks for those few minutes of escape. For many it was the greatest song we ever heard and for some, it was the last. Thanks to Mr. McCartney and all the Beatles for bringing peace to us for those precious moments in the fall of 1968 up near the DMZ. Sincerely, Frank Santen

Hi Frank ,,, welcome to Paul's website. I think Paul is in Peru at the moment. Anyway, that was a very welcomed and unusual introduction you have given us. Because there are over 50,000 fans listed on here, I honestly dont think Paul can get around to giving replies unfortunately. Believe me ,,,,, we all want to hear from him personally, but having said that, I'm sure he will get around to reading your most interesting post. I would like to hear some of your Vietnam stories. Did the M16 rifle misfire at times? I heard years ago that the enemy on certain occasions could smell aftershave lotion that could give away your position. I honestly dont know if that is rumour or what. I was 14 in 1968 and used to watch the news on all those events. Thank goodness its has been consigned to history. Hope you enjoy the website Frank. Cheers Canaris.
