My name is Yazid Manou. I'm a free lance music publicist working in Paris. Regarding my "Beatles links", in the past, I promoted the following : - the "Concert For George" CD/DVD - George Harrison & Friends "Concert For Bangladesh" DVD - the french release of John Lennon's books "In His Own Write" and "A Spaniard in the Works" (both reunited in one book), - the first french concert of US tribute band The Fab Four (3500 people at Palais des Sports in 2007 !). Oh, I also briefly met Paul McCartney once in Paris ! YM

          Triplets Love Paul:

If you care to share, we would LOVE to read about your brief meeting with Paul in Paris!

It was on sunday, October 12, 2003 (during the fashion week). I was at Le Bataclan for The Pretenders sold out concert. First part : I think the show had just begun but (as susual !) I was speaking with a friend near the cloakroom and close to the main entrance door. Suddenly Paul McCartney arrived (with Heather) and directly went inside, just two meters from me ! After the one second shock, I abruptly stopped speaking, realised what just happened and without thinking I entered into the concert hall (I do not know why). It was quite dark, the band was onstage, I helped him and his wife to find their way in the VIP section and I came back speaking near the cloackroom again. The all thing took less than thirty seconds ! I couldn't realise I helped Paul McCartney !!!! The public didn't see him finding his seat. They didn't know he was there. I read they only realised later on when Chrisssie made some jokes during the show. Second part (the best one !) : While I was still speaking outside (sorry Chrissie !), Paul and his wife left the concert (after several songs, can't remember how long they attended). This time, just by chance I was exactly at the exit door ! He saw me again with a little smile on his face, I opened the door for him and at this moment, I knew I had to be very very fast 'cos I didn't want to bother him : while I was shaking his hand I said the thing I used to to tell when I meet famous people, I said to him : "I'm the craziest Hendrix fan you ever met !". He laughed and answered : "Hey take it easy man, take it easy !!". Then a car (taxi ?) was waiting and they left. That was it ! I was so happy as you can imagine. I had a very quick chat and even shook hand with the man who insisted to have Jimi Hendrix playing at the Monterey Pop Festival ! I will never forget that moment. YM

Oh thanks a lot ! Here is something specially for you Mr. Spock : The Jimi Hendrix Experienced played in Cleveland (Public Music Hall) on March 26th, 1968. The night before Jimi was already in town and played at Otto's Grotto jamming with local band Good Earth. Leonard Nimoy attended. Later on, they met at the club and talked for hours. They even ended in Jimi's hotel room and talked again until 2 or 3 am ! (UniVibes Magazine). Noel Redding, DJ Chuck Dunaway, Leonard Nimoy and Jimi. YM

They talked about politics a lot. Chuck Dunaway said : "we were all on the same wavelength, wanting to see the end of the war in Vietnam." YM

Fascinating video... Thanks for posting! To be honest, I was going to skip ahead to the 10 minute mark and just watch the part you were referencing, but I became so interested after the first couple of minutes that I watched it all the way through... It was very true what the interviewer had said about the "cosmic" feel of the '60s that existed and how Jimi Hendrix and Leonard Nimoy contributed to it in their own way... Thanks again!
