Sound Check
-
I went to the Paris one in 2016, also Hotsound Standing and the way it worked is that we went out of the room after the soundcheck and then started queuing up just outside the entrance to the venue (not outside). Then they let the Early Entry Standing in and they queued up behind us. At one point they let us in (must have been around 6pm for a concert due to start at 9pm) and it was a mad rush to the stage (they told us to go slowly but that didn't stop anyone, hehe) and I managed to get a spot on the rail dead center, barely !
I doubt any of the Early Entry Standing managed to get a spot on the rail but they would have been row 2 or 3.
At Paris 2018 the standing area was BEHIND the seated area (where I had a seat) so the people who had an Early Entry Standing I talked to (they had a little goodies bag) were not super happy as they were pretty far away and had paid more than I did for my seat I could walk to at the last minute. There were no Hotsound Standing fortunately, only first row and rows 3-6, like this year.
Hope that helps !

Wow! I would HATE that! We don't have any general admission or standing in the U.S. (for Paul) thankfully!

Yes, this helps me so much. Grazie! I also have been at Paris concert 2016 and 2018

I have a question, if you can help me. It is the first time that I go to a Macca concert. The hotsound standing package of the Barcelona concert in 2020 was bought by my brother-in-law on the Eventtravel website, since he lives in Spain. I live in Venezuela and here there is an exchange control that prevented me from buying from here. Now, investigating I see that some people expose that the day of the concert must be presented in addition to the ticket, also the credit card with which it was paid. My brother-in-law lives in Madrid and I don't want to have to ask him to go to Barcelona with me to be able to enter the concert. He noted that when he made the purchase he placed my data (name, email, etc.) in the purchase. My question is if I will have any problem to enter the concert only with the ticket that will be sent to me by mail? If you can help me in this regard I would appreciate it. Thanks friends.

Whose name is on the ticket, is it your name? If you bring a photo identification, you should be alright, I don’t remember them asking to see the credit card. But I would contact Event Travel and ask them the question. You can email them with the ticket confirmation number and ask, they have always been helpful when I have had questions.

Hi! As I said on my first MaccaBoard post, I'm a youngster with some really weird music tastes for my age and really cool parents, who's trying to figure out which kind of tickets suit him better for his first (and probably last) Macca concert ever.
We aren't extremely wealthy, so I don't want to spend my parents' money on a soundcheck ticket if it's not going to make my experience (significantly) better.
I understand that with a Hot Sound package you obviously get to see the SC, which apparently is like a 1-hour-long miniconcert (maybe with some storytelling by Macca?) in which you are moderately far away so that you don't disturb the band. Seems accurate? Are you so far that you can't even discern Paul's face?
As I'm aiming at the Naples concert, it appears that there will be no veggie meal, so I can expect a long time of doing nothing before the SC and more of the same thing between the SC and the concert. Some reviews I've read about SCs say that they were "prisoners" for a long time and I fear that they might make us be standing all the time (plus the duration of the concert, for a grand total of way-too-many hours).
The risks I see are that:
1. The SC itself might be disappointing in comparison to the concert (too far, too boring...), not making my evening any better.
2. The "prison" part of the Hot Sound package might make me feel too tired/hungry/thirsty during the actual concert and spend the last part of it wishing that it's over.
Can any usual SCer tell me how likely 1 and 2 are to happen?
The main perk, however, seems to be that a Hot Sound package is the only way to get a place at the first two rows for the concert, as I understand that Hot packages (early entry) would end up at 3rd-4th row and Pit ticket people that lined up for hours would be at row 5+. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.
If what I wrote on the paragraph above is true, it may well be worth spending all that money. Otherwise, it's less clear...
So, my final questions are... Am I understanding correctly how SCs work? Why does each of you go to SCs? Just for the front seats?
Thanks in advance!
P. S.: On my other post you can find other questions I'd love to find answers to, in case anyone wants to do a good deed, that would be much appreciated.

So nice to hear you have cool parents! You are very lucky!!!
I've never had the chance to do a sound check, however, if it's an outdoor venue, you should be able to stand outside the venue and hear the soundcheck. Did a Gold Package once and had a chance to go to an indoors box area, for a veggie meal and then had a seat in row 15, for about $800.
From what I've heard, you sit far back and there is no guarantee of the songs played. I would have gone if it could be known that the songs would be from a certain album, Sun is Shining would be a good example of a song I would pay $$$ for, but it's risky. The preshow is usually about an hour and I've always loved those, cool music and visuals.
Whatever you are able to do, the concert will be great! Paul fans are the BEST!!!

I have been to 3 soundchecks, but in the U.S. You will be going in Europe, right? Things are done differently there (like no dinner!) but your ticket will be a lot less than we pay ($1600 for Hot Sound Package seat in row 3, 4 if you get lucky like I did in all 3 of mine I was front and center!) Plus we get the dinner after SC and merchandise, plus lanyard with plastic card with pic of Paul on it and name of tour. We don't have Pit tickets or any general admission/standing room only here. P.S. For front row w/SC (side sections only) we pay $2100. Can't remember price for 2nd row, but SC is not included, just the other stuff. After SC they should let you free to get something to eat (you of course pay for it) and you can buy a t-shirt and/or program or something, then go to your seat. I didn't do SC in 2019 - did Gold VIP and that gave us good seats with comfy chairs (the rest of the place had all plastic hard seats - this was in Greenville, SC) They mailed out the merchandise. It arrived the day of the concert (we had already left as it was a 2-hour drive from my house in Georgia)
All my concerts were in indoor arenas (I refuse to go to a concert outdoors in the roasting sun!) and we were placed once (Memphis) right at level with soundboard, and the other 2 (Atlanta and Duluth, GA) we were right behind the 1st section of seats. About 25 rows back. Can see Paul great. I even got a couple good pics with zoom. He read the signs (mostly to himself) but nobody got called up on stage. He doesn't talk too much, just a bit.
Somebody who has done SC in Europe should be able to help you more.
Oh, and yes, I bought hot sound package mainly for the great seats and the SC. The food was great in Memphis, but sucked in the other two I went to. The merch is a bonus.

I've just seen for the Hot Sound Package for Paris that they added this "Or Newly added PL1 reserved seated ticket (Rows 18-25)" does that mean even though I bought it when there was only being showed Rows 3-6, I might get the row 18-25 thing? Or will I be guaranteed to be in row 3-6 as I bought it when only rows 3-6 was being advertised? Has this happened to anyone here before?

If you are paying for a Hot Sound Package (including Soundcheck) you should get in rows 3-6! I gather you don't get to pick your seat ahead of time like we do in the U.S.? That would suck if you ended up anywhere in rows 18-25!
P.S. Gordy, I was watching some British show and one of the characters referred to the other character's "kecks." I cracked up! Immediately thought of you and Paul!

Yeah I'm thinking since how I paid for the Hot Sound when they were only advertising rows 3-6 then I should get that. Feels like they added the rows 18-25 for Hot Sound to sell more of the Hot Sound Tickets, so if it was bought when that was added then they'll get 18-25. I'll be pretty furious if I end up with row 18-25
Glad you thought of me & Paul, it's all I ever wanted hahaha

For the Euro/UK shows that are sold via Event Travel, you cannot chose your exact seats, the way you can in the US. They distribute their allotment in the order of ticket purchase, so Gordy, you should be allotted something in Rows 3-6 since you purchased at the original time of sale.

Just emailed Event Travel & they have confirmed that I'll still be in Rows 3-6! Thought I would be but wanted to make sure in case I got the ticket & it said Row 18. Glad I checked. Got my holidays from work sorted, paid most of the ticket off, booked my flights & accommodation. Can't believe I'm actually doing this

I know it'll be great — that's why I wanted to choose the best possible option. ^^
And it's nice to hear that Macca fans are bunch or friendly people (and to ckeck it on this forum!), since I'll be travelling solo and I'll be approaching strangers at the concert venue, haha. Even if I'm 40 years younger than anyone else there (not an ageist)!

I go to most concerts, for many artists, solo and I find Paul's audience my favorite. It's amazing that from the youngest people all the way up to the original BeaTles fans, I have really met so many wonderful people over the years. I have many touching and unforgettable stories of those I've met over the years...

Yep, I'll be doing Europe. Wikipedia has just taught me that there are a few places named Naples in the US, so apologies for not having made it clear!
Ok, the fact that you were free to move between the SC and the actual concert makes the soundcheck look more appealing, although (as you said) it's hard to extrapolate what goes on at SCs in Europe. Any euro-soundchecker reading this? Did you have the same experiences as Nancy? (I've already read this thread, but I didn't draw any conclusion on this matter.)
Oh, and it's great to know that SCers aren't that far from the stage as some reviews I'd read had made me think.
I actually don't care much about the merch or about bringing a sign, so whatever I do will be for the sake of having a good musical experience. That's priority #1!

Wow, you seem to have had quite a lot of fun over the years. Lucky you!
Thanks for letting me know! Now I have another thing to say when the next friend/relative tries to convince me that I'm cuckoo bananas for going solo to this, lol. Am I supposed to wait till I find the right person to accompany me? That could take years in my case.
I still don't get why people assume that, if you enjoy doing some things by yourself, you're a crackpot. It's a great way of getting to know new people, isn't it?
Anyway, I hope to also be able to have some one-of-a-kind experiences in Italy and specifically at the concert!

I went to a rock show (not McCartney) when I was a teenager by myself, could not get anybody to go with me. I wound up sitting next two two young ladies my age and I just said hi when I sat down. They were very nice and one of the girls started talking to me before the show started and we hit it off. After the show, the three of us went to a bar and had a few drinks together to talk about the concert. It just shows you you never know what can happen -lol.

I actually don't care much about the merch or about bringing a sign, so whatever I do will be for the sake of having a good musical experience. That's priority #1!
SCs in closed arenas you are much closer than those in huge (open or closed) stadiums! Hope someone who has been to a European SC can give you specifics on how they work. Anyway, have fun!

I go to most concerts, for many artists, solo and I find Paul's audience my favorite. It's amazing that from the youngest people all the way up to the original BeaTles fans, I have really met so many wonderful people over the years. I have many touching and unforgettable stories of those I've met over the years...
I thought you were going to end the story with, "And that girl is now my wife!"
